MacKinnon + Jarvis + 2nd overall for McDavid

Hello all,

League in signature. Was in a rebuild and managed an excellent draft for this year (2nd and 3rd overall, one 2nd round and two 3rd round). Traded away my 3rd overall for Nylander to improve my Keepers.

But now the offer is clearer, so I'm starting fresh here

Got offered this:

• Jarvis
• 2nd overall

for his

• McDavid
• garbage
• 8th round pick

Other GM is tight against the Cap (thus the last year of MacKinnon at 6.3M$). Heard rumors that Mac wants 13M$ for his next contract. I don't think I can contend this year.

I REALLY like Jarvis.

Thoughts? Would you do this trade?

I could probably swap Jarvis and put Newhook instead. Side question: who do you prefer between Jarvis and Newhook?

I really doubt it, but I even could try to through Dach instead... I'd rank the 3 kids as this:

McDavid is worth a lot, but not that (imo). I’ll watch what the “majority” thinks.

So if you do this, MacKinnon will explode his cap situation in a years' time? The main reason to keep Mackinnon is to take advantage of his low cap hit this year to make a run. If that's not in the cards, then you're in a good spot to leverage that to someone else who wants to get this year of superproduction.

I would swap out Jarvis for Newhook. Much rather have Jarvis. I would also rather put Dach in there than Newhook or Jarvis. Try Dach first.

I like the deal if it is Dach or Newhook.

Have you put MacKinnon out on the block for the league to see? McDavid is the best player, but a contender getting MacKinnon at his low cap hit next year shoots up the board. You might consider doing that and then coming back to the McDavid owner in a few days and say you've had a lot of bidding but would consider doing it with Dach involved. And maybe a lower pick. If I were in a cap league, if MacKinnon at $6.3 was out there and I never got a chance, I'd be bummed. This is something for which you should use the league to boost the return.

I have, but the best offer I got was:
- Zegras and a 1st

- Connor + Raymond + 1st (he hesitated, got the feeling he’d pull back)

Waiting for another GM

I really want to reinforce my keepers, and I have the feeling I’d delude with the other trade.

Dach would be a no go, but Newhook would work.

I’ll wait for the other GM, though I have the feeling it’s my last chance to get McDavid.

Just for fun, McDavid owner has also this offer:

I’m obviously biased, but I think my offer is WAY better… am I in the wrong?

Who do you expect the best player will be at 12th overall?

Given this is the last bargain year of Mack, I'd have no problem moving him and Newhook for McD. Probably the 2nd overall too, given there are 131 keepers.

I suspect he took it because he'd have the same issue next season. Or the Connor/Raymond/1st guy is a shrewd negotiator.

You could always offer MacKinnon/Dach + a pick for McDavid to the guy who got him.

to me both those offers are not enough for McDavid but i do like Mckinnon's over Cornor's side.
