I think I prefer the Larkin side. As Detroit continues to get better, Larkin will benefit. Hischier should also continue to develop on an improving NJ team.

"Pettersson and Hintz are definite upgrades but worth the 2023 1st?" Indeed. You know your league, what might that pick actually be, a 1st overall, 12th overall, in the middle?? If your 1st is a top 3 or 4 pick in a very strong 2023 draft this has to be taken into consideration. If the pick is outside the top 4, then that swings things a bit as well. Your team looks competitive but I'm guessing. What's the story?

Thanks for the quick reply. I took over this team this offseason. The old manager wasn't active anymore so they kicked him out (too bad cause he was top 3 without taking care of it). He finished 5th though due to injuries since he wasn't moving players. Anyways, I have to drop Draisatl (246) and Carlsson (223) as both of their salaries are going way up and would hit over 20% of my total salary each. I'll get them back throgh auction at a cheaper price as well. (other FA are McDavid, Kucherov, MacKinnon, Panarin, Letang, etc)

I am looking to be competitive this year, so I am not planning on finishing in bottom half of league. I know Larkin (20) and Hischier (20) are good pieces but I see them as 55 to 70 point players. Pettersson (42) and Hintz (25) both get more PP points and both broke out midway through the season at a point per game rate. They shoot a ton as well. The question really is do we see Pettersson take that next step with Boudreau and Hintz going at a point per game rate this season? I did not approach the other GM for this trade it was proposed to me.

I do this deal given that your 1st rounder could well be outside the top 10 if your team does well. As I said, unless it's within the top 5 I'm not concerned. Using Dobbers Guide as a resource, the scoring projections for the forwards involved in this deal are as follows:

    EP40 - 74
    Hintz - 70
    Larkin - 68
    Hischier - 54

I'll take that 22 pt upgrade thank you very much. You already know the peripheral's are also solid. That draft pick, whoever it might be, is 2 to 3 years away and what you have after the wait is a maybe. Pull the trigger.
