    Default Tough Cuts

    League in sig.

I'm pretty certain at this point I'll keep:

    Makar (prospect eligible still)
    Shesterkin (prospect eligible still)
    Lundell (prospect)
    B. Tkachuk
    A. Svechnikov
    Zibanejad
    Carlson
    Markstrom

That leaves me two spots for the following guys: Schenn, Scheifele, Larkin, Giroux, Theodore, Buch, Petry, Terry, Tarasenko

Not a lot separating those guys to my mind. I can only keep two goalies, so Francouz isn't an option unless I decide to trade Markstrom, gamble on Francouz (who would be prospect eligible eligible), and then swap Lundell for a third guy from the list.

    Are my locks right?

Which two would you take out of the list?

    Thanks!

Brayden Schenn is a lock in this scoring format IMO but if you keep Schiefele or Tarasenko over him for their higher offense ceiling I can't blame you alas swiss army knifes like him that score fifty plus points are what wins multi-cat titles. And then the second spot would be a three horse race between two I just mentioned and Buchnevich. If you keep Schenn then I avoid the other own from the Blues in Pavel or Vlad and go Scheifele.

Schefiele and Larkin for me if you can fit 2 more Cs. If you prefer winger then Schefiele + Tarasenko

I do like Schenn a lot in this league. That said, I've got a solid multi-cat core with Svech and Tkchuk.

I think I could use Scheifele's higher points ceiling, but in a FOW league he's a detriment (only 430). And at this point my third prospect is Lundell, who's c only and won only 334 draws. Seems to me that keeping Scheifele means I'm punting FOW from the outset which I'm not keen on.

I'm actually leaning Giroux (700+ FOW from rw, though that's no guarantee with a new team) and Petry. Petry is also a multi-cat stud, and his sog, blocks, and hits as my 3rd D is enticing.

Petry is not going to usurp Letany for meaningful offensive minutes aka a spot on Pens PP1 therefore I cannot advise a keeper slot being used on him. Now 35 years old and after a dreadful season he can be had in the draft. Scheifele has a safe floor and is still on the right side of 30 whereas G is 34. Lots of mouths to feed in Ottawa, not so much in Manitoba.

I'm going Scheifele and Giroux. You get points and you get FOW. If these are your most pressing needs, these two are your best options IMO.

Giroux's FOW will help you a lot. And there's basically no chance the Senators won't use him in the dot - he's still an elite FO guy.

Other options are Schenn, Schiefele, Theodore, and whomever you can get in trade for one of your goalies + another bubble keeper. I'd shop Francouz & a skater together. If that doesn't work, markstrom & a skater together.

Thanks all for your thoughts - a bunch of different opinions.

I'm not too concerned about age for my last 1-2 keepers. I'll have Makar and Shesterkin 'graduating' to veteran status after next year.

I do think keeping Giroux is the right move. Having a leg up in the FOW department is huge, and as it stands I'm keeping no rws (though Svech could potentially get rw status).

I'll explore moving Francouz + for a slight keeper upgrade. I'll also explore moving Lundell for a non-c prospect keeper who provides better category coverage.

    Thanks all.

Based on the Goldipucks column today, moving Lundell seems wise.
