Default Would you do this trade?

    Hey guys,

I'm in a points only dynasty, goals and assists =1 point.

    Just receive an offer:

Reinhart and a first round pick next year (2023),
    Vs
    My Lucas Raymond

The pick will be a lottery pick, can be first, but probably around 4 or 5.

Should I accept this trade? I am a contender for next 2-3 year, but i really love Raymond.

    Thanks!

I'd take that. You should be able to flip the pick pre-draft next year for a player as good as Raymond.

I'd do it for sure. It allows you to split the baby in a winning way.

I don't know that Reinhart is an 80-point guy now, but he is in his prime and should give you 60+ points for the next few seasons. Meanwhile, that pick is likely going to land you a prospect as enticing as Raymond if your forecast of a top-5 pick is correct.

Raymond had a very good rookie season and should improve but is he hitting the height we saw from Reinhart? Perhaps not any time soon. He could also end up the best piece in this deal but it's not a guarantee. That's why I like splitting the baby. You get a win now piece, and a win later piece.

yeah if its top pick next year you need to take this...if it ends up being top 3 pick its huge steal if its 4-10 its still clear win imo...

In fact, the worst case scenario would be 6th but it could be better too...

You say you’re a contender for the next 2-3 years and i think Reinhart will outpoint Raymond during that span. Adding a 1st pick to this is huge! 2023 should be a very strong draft. I would easily accept this!

This is a fantastic trade for you! Reinhart is better than (at "worst", equal to) Raymond over your next couple of seasons in contention, and to get a lottery pick with a generational talent or two available next year is gravy. I hope that you have already accepted this!

Sometimes it's hard to grasp the trade without knowing the league details but this is one case in which I'd say it makes sense to pull the trigger in 95%+ formats.

Assuming it's Sam Reinhart, it's a definite steal of a deal for you. Raymond might become as good as Reinhart in a few years. So you are getting the best player in the deal and getting a top 6 pick in one of the best drafts in a long time...sounds like a big win to me.

For the near future I think you win and if the pick becomes a better player than Raymond it’s an all around win for you.

Never heard the term "splitting the baby" before, but in the context of this trade it's bang on. Reinhart helps you for a year or two and that high pick next year helps you later. Win/Win. I like Raymond as well, but this is a solid deal for you, I'm pulling the trigger.
