Re: Juan Soto to the Padres
All the MLBers in the trade are repped by Boras. Hosmer was likely talked to about this before so it'll def not be hung up because of Hosmer. But he might end up just getting waived by the Nationals and they'll eat his deal and he'll be a FA. Or he'll get flipped.
Huge Padres deal, largest in MLB deadline history and likely the largest deal since Miggy? Abrams, Gore, and Hassell III are 3 really good uoung players, but Gore needs to figure out his health and control issues to make this even close to a win for the Nationals.
Gore - 1999 born
Abrams - 2000 born
Hassell III - 2001 born
Wood - 2002 Born
Susana - 2004 Born
Soto - 1998 born.
The 3 center pieces of the deal for Soto are guys 1-3yrs younger than Soto...it's nothing about getting younger. It's about keeping control of assets. If the Nationals wanted more MLB ready guys they'd likely get a deal in the winter (like one with Bichette level of player), but for prospects/MLB guys they got a solid-ish return.
Still though...Soto is 23yrs old, and will still bring in 2 top prospects next yr if Padres can't re-sign him.
