Yahoo Fantasy Hockey 2022-2023

Yahoo just shut down access to last season's leagues. Is Yahoo opening its fantasy hockey leagues earlier? If so, it could be an early August opening instead of mid August.

I did notice that but couldn't remember if this is earlier than usual. COVID has messed up schedules recently so it's difficult to know if they're more organised and open earlier or just allowing themselves more time to set things up.

Last year they shut down early August and reopened mid August.

A couple early thoughts:

- No projections. Why open this early if you haven't even done this? I know not everyone uses them but it shows they've rushed it.
- A few ranking glitches e.g. Marchand, McAvoy, Marner in the 200s.

Hopefully their first update will address the obvious issues.

Does one need a "renewed" league to get access to rankings?
Is there a backdoor into seeing player info?
(For some reason, I'm not finding information without a league renewed.)

Same here, unable to see rankings without a league renewed. I do see a note about more data being available as of the 17th or something. So probably another couple weeks away from being fully operational.

Create your own league for a Monday draft in January 2023 at 4am and then delete the league once your real leagues are renewed!

I just started a new league to see rankings. They are meh to say the least right now (Marner is ranked 250). But it looks like Rotowire is now taking over the projections

They indeed scratched a lot dual eligibility, only a few LW/RW or C+W left.

Ya they usually trim down, then add back come training camps.

I don't mind that they open without projections. They're always had some pretty glaring inaccuracies on initial release anyway.
Get leagues established and things (see who's not coming back).

Workaround to access the desktop site from your phone (works with Android at least):

Go to any league homepage. Click your team. Click on the little gear icon next to your team name. Now scroll all the way to the bottom. Click cancel.

That should take you to the desktop site on your phone app, hopefully.

There are certain features that you cannot access on your phone that are accessible on the desktop site. Importantly, many of the Commissioner tools are unavailable through the app.
