I'm really hoping one of those 3 wingers, Korchinski or Mintyukov is there for Vancouver at 15.

I actually like Gauthier a lot and I dont think they screwed that pick at all. Arizona passing on Shane Wright looks more of a screwup than any.

From a fantasy standpoint, I am not sure how excited I am about the landing spots of some of these kids early on. Slafkovsky to Montreal is just meh but maybe that's because I am just sour on the Habs ability to develop players and other than Suzuki, I am not sure what they have down the middle to help the wingers. Cooley to Arizona reminds me a lot of Montreal's inability to develop prospects. Wright to Seattle is a tough one because we dont have much of a history with their development process. They need offensive players so maybe this is a good fit but right now, I am not overly excited about him. The one player I do like his landing spot is Matt Savoie, and that's weird because I normally dont like Buffalo's ability to develop either, but I do like the stable of kids they have in the system now that they are building around. Cutter Gauthier is another kid I like a lot. I wasn't at all surprised that Philly took him at 5 and I like that spot for him. I was really high on Kemell but him going to Nashville cools that fire a lot.

It will be interesting to see how a lot of fantasy drafts fall from here.

Seattle has Wright/Berniers as their future C1/2. Great pieces to build around. Now they don't much else, but they have 4 2nds this yr and 3 next yr. And Ryker Evans (D).

Should be an interesting day, but I think we mostly just see draft pick trades today (watch JT Miller and Chychrun get promptly moved now).

Draft opens at 11am Eastern (an hour from this post).

The first 4-5 picks of the second round are often fairly interesting.
Teams have the evening to really secure their faith in those picks... meanwhile, there's a handful of other teams that are salivating over somebody and have time to make a trade offer.

In 2021 draft, Detroit moved up to #36 overall, the fourth pick of the 2nd round, to take Shai Buium.
Anaheim made a very nice pick at #34 with Olen Zellweger.

In 2020 draft, Buffalo took JJ Peterka at #34 (3rd pick) and he's panned out quite well.

In 2019 draft, and in Fletcher's first year with PHI - PHI traded up on Day2 for the #34 overall pick (3rd pick in 2nd round) and took Bobby Brink.
The picks at #32 (Shane Pinto-OTT) and #33 (Arthur Kaliyev-LA) have also panned out well.
Actually, the 2019 2nd round is shaping up as a pretty solid set of drafting by GMs that year - which includes Nick Robertson (TOR) at #53.

Further to that - Toronto has been a team that has drafted well in 2nd rounds recently, grabbing Matthew Knies at #57 in last year's draft. (Knies would probably rank as a top25 player of that draft after his D+1 year last year).

    Leading off Round 2 today:
    MON
    SJ (from ARI)
    SEA
ARI (from PHI - from the Ghost giveaway trade last summer)
    NJ
    TOR (from CHI)
    CHI (from OTT)
    DET

    Excited to see these picks.

Vancouver just drafted another Elias Pettersson. No joke. This will be fun for the coaches and announcers.

If you’ll recall, Chuck traded this year’s second round pick to dump Shayne Gostisbehere, so unless he makes a move this morning the Flyers won’t be on the clock again until the third round.

I took Petterson in my entry draft in my main league, but cut him on cutdown day. He's my worst decision ever in that league, and it's not close. tellculvers com survey taco bell breakfast hours
