This is the Suter and Parise buyouts hitting home. This is a completely underwhelming return for Fiala. But Minnesota put themselves in this position.

Yes - a little more term but the AAV isn’t bad for his prime years here. Kings have done well overall.

Kings are getting his age 26-32 seasons so all of his best years pretty much. He is the type of winger Kopitar has needed since Gaborik left. No doubt expensive in terms of $$, the acquisition cost wasnt too bad at all as the prospect sounds pretty meh

Significant talent loss for Minnesota here. They will need Boldy to continue his ascent along with a significant contribution by Rossi.

Minnesota is in life boat mode for a couple of years here. They just have to hang on.

The contract seems right on, especially for his prime years. For 70+ point players I find a quick rule of thumb is $100k per point. Fiala had 85 points last year so right in the market.
The price of a 1st round pick and decent prospect seems about right as well. Is this the Kings accelerating their rebuild?
None of the experts had them in the playoffs this year and they gave the Oilers all they could handle.

    Nice move by the Kings.

Good or bad for his fantasy value? I feel the Kings don't score a lot.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Been thinking about this; I think it's a slight downgrade on paper. But he's a great player going to a team with good centers so we'll see.

frankly, i think it was kinda fluky that Fiala put up 30+ goals / 85 points while playing on the second line and PP2 for the large majority of the season. He would be hard-pressed to repeat that production with that type of deployment again despite his chemistry with matt boldy.

i think the trade raises the floor for his numbers since he'll be on L1/PP1 for a presumably lower scoring team. his upside is probably similar to what he produced this season around 30 goals and point per game. the stars would have to align for him to reach 40g/100p

Fiala has to be an upgrade on every winger the Kings iced last year. Shouldnt he be getting top line and top PP minutes?
