    Default Batherson or 3OA

    Got a offer

Batherson for 3rd OA and a early 3rd

    In the owner of Batherson.
24 team salary cap dynasty league

Obviously loose a really good 1st line winger for this season but probably with the 3rd Overall I get a better player in a season or 2. I’m easily a playoff team.

Keep Batherson, especially since you’re a contending team.

Need more league info but if you're contending already it's tough to imagine a scenario where this trade makes sense for you.

    Some more info.
If I move Batherson I can call up the likes of Rossi, Tomasino or Glass from my minors to replace him.
Then I’d get to draft one of probably slaf or Cooley and get a 3rd which is the 53rd pick

You have two ways to go here. If your contending this year you keep Batherson. I seriously doubt any of the juggling you are suggesting to replace Batherson to make this deal will work out for you, none of Rossi, Tomasino or Glass are adequate replacements IMO. If you are looking to the future, then this deal possibly makes a little more sense, in two or three years you may well have a player that is a much better own than Batherson. Then again, at the age of 24, with 1st line deployment on an improving Sens team, I wonder how much of a better player you will have in Wright, Slaf or Cooley than in Batherson? Maybe not as much as you might think, and you will have to wait a few years to find out. Personally, I'm passing on this deal, I'm happy to roll with Batherson now and into the near future.

It amazes me every year around this time... lol, its how good gms build their teams.

what is the upside of trading batherson, who plays line 1 on and up and coming team, gets all the power play time, hits, shoots etc, to take a chance on a guy like wright, cooley , slaf etc. what is your hope for these prospects?

let me answer,,, the hope is they follow the same trajectory as batherson does. there is no mcdavid in this draft, in fact a lot of "experts" say this is a relatively weak draft. But hey that 3 OA as many have mentioned is a "shiny new toy"

HAHAH anyways best of luck whatever you decide.

Keep Batherson. At some point, unless you're tearing down, you need to ride with the guys you've developed unless you're 100% certain that the prospect you'd be getting is superior. I don't think any of the top 3 guys fits that description as to Batherson.

I'm going to play devils advocate and say whats wrong with trading Batherson for the pick, calling up Rossi (centering Kaprizov?), and then if that doesn't work out you move Rossi and whoever the pick is for a huge upgrade? Because let's face it, the 3 OA this year will have name value at least through the year. I don't think Batherson is good enough, nor is that team good enough, to pass up good value. You shouldn't be able to get 3OA for just him, so if you have the opportunity you improve your overall asset value and flip that value for what you need later.

I personally think that when you're making offseason moves with the intention of contending, liquidity and overall asset value is safer than individual asset value speculation
