I've seen a few insiders report this as well. Will be interesting to see what happens next. I think a lot of it comes down to the Blackhawks being afraid of his next contract after next season but who knows.

"Cleavage is like the sun. You can look, but dont stare.. Unless you're wearing sunglasses."
I think its just smoke.
Maybe dangle him to see they get a crazy good offer but at the end of the day I think he stays in Chicago.
He's a sniper, 40 goal scorer and very young.
What would be the reason to move him? For even younger assets with unknown results??
Keep the mid-twenty year old and his 40 goal scoring prowess.
I think the Blackhawks are finally realizing how far away they actually are from building a contending team. With few quality prospects and hardly any young promising players, the Hawks are 5+ years away from being a contender and that's even if their rebuild is successful. They don't even have a 1st round pick this year so 2023 is the earliest they can draft a potential star. The Hawks need to completely bottom-out and be one of the worst teams in the NHL next year to get in the Bedard/Michkov sweepstakes. Keeping Debrincat and running this season with Kane, Debrincat, Strome, Toews, Jones, ect will keep them from being one of the worst teams in the NHL. They won't sniff the playoffs but will finish in the bottom 5 to 10 range which simply isn't bad enough.
Since the Hawks are so many years away, Debrincat's prime does not match up when the Hawks can potentially be good again. And after next season, he'll be in line for a long term 9+ M dollar contract. His trade value will never be higher than right now. This is the reason they are listening to trade offers. I'll be impressed if they trade him and fully embrace the tank. Make it so that Kane comes to them asking to get moved at the deadline. Hell, I say take on Mrazek and the Toronto sweetner and go full tank but I doubt they do it. They probably want to put a semi-respectable team on the ice for ticket sales.

A team that is in need of a pure goal scorer, Debrincat would be a great addition to any team looking for that. I imagine the Hawks would be asking a pretty hefty price for him though.
If they had the courage to do a full rebuild, this offseason would be a huge turn around offseason for them. Toews, Kane, DeBrincat, Kubalik all being moved for future assets would be a huge shot in the arm for their farm system.

Are they getting anything for Toews even if they retain 50%? They'd have to take back some bad money since he's hardly a #2C anymore. And I doubt they even give a QO to Kubalik since it's nearly 4 M. I think it's more likely they keep Kane and Toews till the deadline when teams can play around with LTIR and when it's easier to fit their cap hit in. Kane would be a great additional to a playoff team since he's just about as good as he's ever been. They should get a nice asset for him. The return will be embarrassing for Toews unless he turns it around this season.

Toews would be a phenomenal 3c for teams that are lacking experience like Edmonton, Carolina, NY Rangers, and even the Leafs. If healthy, he'll fetch at least a 2nd rd pick at trade deadline.

Both Kane and Toews might be easier to deal & fetch the same return at the deadline when teams have some extra pro-rated cap relief (assuming they're healthy and productive).
