Drouin vs W Karlsson
In a cap dynasty league should I trade Drouin for Karlsson?
I’m tight against the cap. Drouin 5.5 for 1yr, Karlsson 5.9 for 5yrs
Honestly I’d rather not own either but can one be better then the last few seasons have shown.
Obviously I can get rid of Drouin after next season when he becomes UFA whereas Karlsson at 5yrs is a long commitment and could be difficult to trade.
But Karlsson as a C gives me a edge in Faceoffs and is far more durable then Drouin, although I am already heavy at C.
I also don’t know much about Drouin injury situation, will he start the season and I’d imagine he’s probably on the trade block.
Any advice?

Karlsson was at least on the boat. He's fallen overboard a few times though. It's another season so Karlsson is back onboard, I'll take my chances with him staying onboard, at least for a few years. HOpefully he has a good year, and when he does, trade him.

Personally, if you can get anyone to take Drouin, I'd do it.

Can you not just drop Drouin?
My fear would be Karlsson gets traded to a bottom team and not have talent around him to help him out.

I dont have a scale of roster sizes etc but I think I would likely just wait out Drouin's contract. I dont think WK lives up to 5.9 and id rather 4 years of flexibility.

I'd rather wait and have the flexibility. No point in locking in to someone you don't want.

What I'd do is examine your leaguemates rosters and see if anyone needs a C/W that takes faceoffs, and has a cap crunch where they guys they are likely to move out you like more as a fit for your team.
Find one or two of those teams, and let them know you are in talks to get a center in trade, and you'd be willing to flip him for say a defenseman or whatever type you need.

I'd probably sit on it and either cut Drouin loose in a year or keep him if he were to sign a cheap show me deal somewhere. I still think he can be a productive player. So can WK but that contract could really be a pain. Drouin would probably get traded if he was healthy at the 2023 trade deadline, which should give you an idea which way things are headed with him.

You misunderstood. I'm saying if you can find someone who's willing to take him off your hands (ie trade), I'd do it. Looks like you've found that opportunity.

Yeah sorry I quoted the wrong post.
Mate the trade, got a added 5th. I figure Karlsson, although his contract is longer he will probably be easier to move
