Re: New dynasty drafting soon
If indeed one of Shesterkin or Vasi are available with your first pick I would jump on that. If that isn't the case, then I'm sitting back and waiting for the inevitable goalie run to happen and grabbing the best option I can, hail Mary on that.
I fully agree with JJ, I'm drafting to win. Take the best player available with all of your picks and do not be afraid to draft old guys who are clearly done in the early to middle rounds, like Crosby, Ovi, Stamkos, P Kane, Josi, Hedman, just to name a few. Let the other guys draft the prospects most of which will not contribute to their teams for 2 or 3 years or perhaps never.
Your league scoring is dead simple and there are countless guides and lists that should be fairly accurate in a points only format. The real challenge here is finding and drafting those players that return the most bang for the cap hit they bring. Look for those good contracts. Draft the best available stars early but then look for those guys with the best cap value, the best bang for your buck. Guys still on their ECL's that are potential break out candidates and players on the last year of their affordable contracts are a good place to start. A CAP league changes everything, so you need to do your homework up front prior to your draft. Good Luck!
