A player on Canada’s 2018 World Junior team who was present in a London, ON hotel room during an alleged sexual assault told police in their initial investigation he was not a participant and left the room unsure of what he witnessed.

This stuff annoys me as in the moment, you might not know what's consensual or not (especially at that age), but you def know the aftermath and if there was something wrong after. There's no penalty for not being a good Samaritan in Canada in a situation like this, so if that's actually what happened then this players 'off the hook' in terms of legality. However, this came out WAY to late and makes me think this is just a play by the players legal team.

It's also now reported that in October 2019 (after the 2018 Team's sexual assault case) told the Canadian Gov't it wanted nothing to do with third-party investigations of abuse claims and that Hockey Canada wanted such matters kept in house and told Ottawa about the "equity fund" they had to pay off cases.

The Condo in Toronto owned by Hockey Canada is just the tip of the iceberg of abusing the registration fees by Canadians. There's talk about expensive wine, jewelry, and expensive hotel rooms also being bought (excessive spending). Alberta MP has asked for a full audit of Hockey Canada's spending dating back to 2016 and I'm sure we'll see a ridiculous amount of money spent on dumb things if that happens.

wouldnt the condo be a wise investment though considering it would save on hotels while also likely rising in value ?

The Condo was bought to save on 'hotel fees' for high ranking officials. Spending $1m of peoples registration fees instead of a few thousand isn't saving money. And they sold the condo and used that money they earned off other peoples money to fund possible shady things (sexual assault cover ups, expensive gifts for people).

I think most people would rather have their fees reduced to play hockey and HC stay in a hotel than the fees raise and them own a condo in Leafs Square. Hockey Canada is a Not-For-Profit Organization. Purchasing a Condo to sell it for more money is a For-Profit move and it goes against their fiduciary duty.

It's just another piece of evidence against HC, on it's own it's not a good look, but you can explain it away almost. But with every other piece of evidence around how they used their funds secretly, it's not a good look.

Pure speculation, but there's some talk on Twitter that the Motte signing indicates Ottawa isn't close to bringing Formenton back. There are plenty of reasons why Ottawa might not have agreed to a deal with Formenton yet, but it could be that they know he was involved. Batherson, meanwhile, though still not having commented on the situation, has pretty active on Instagram and has been out and about in Ottawa, including an appearance at an Ottawa Redblacks game recently.

The people running the organization rather see it go bankrupt than do the right thing. That should be enough evidence to show they shouldn't be running it.

Hockey Canada has reportedly gone to federal court to fight the release of sensitive financial information the government has agreed to disclose in connection with an Access to Information Act request.

Andrea Skinner resigns as interim Chair. She joined HC board in 2020, was appointed interim chair in August after the resignation of Michael Brind'Amour. She said in front of MPs that Hockey Canada was the victim and said her board doesn't believe senior leadership "should be replaced on the basis of what we consider to be substantial misinformation and unduly cynical attacks"

Bauer pauses its multi-million dollar commitment as the official equipment provider to the Hockey Canada's men's team. They will continue to supply equipment to the women's program.

I don't know if it's been said, but Hockey Canada has paid out nearly $9million in settlements to 21 people alleging sexual abuse since 1989 with the bulk of the money going to complainants in the case of Graham James (Junior Coach who sexually abused players on his teams).

Your final large sponsors who haven't paused or cancelled their sponsorships:
    BFL Canada
    Hankook Tire

She also announced her resignation in the middle of a Blue Jays playoff game, no doubt to try and limit the coverage it would receive, which is just the height of cowardice.
