I'll immediately knock Annunen and Distal off the list. Not because they aren't good, but because the others are just better.

Of the top three, I think I would take Askarov. He's going to be the AHL starter next season, and is not too far away from starting to see NHL time. He's also the highest drafted one, and has some incredible pedigree. His trade value is also probably the highest of the set.

I'd go Askarov. I've held onto him since he was drafted so I'm too invested now!

I'd say Askarov but really, goalies are hard to gauge so it could be any of them. We probably won't know for another 4-5 years.

I'd go with Wallstedt. I prefer him to Askarov due to situation.

Talbot/??? (unlikely to be Fleury) are no impediment to taking over a starting job in 2-3 years. The Wild don't have cap space to go get an expensive goalie moving forward.

Saros/Ingram are a much larger impediment to Askarov taking over a starting job in 2-3 years. I don't see Ingram as a major factor, but I think he's probably a better bet than whomever ends up as the Wild's backup.

As we've seen with someone like Kahkonen, an excellent young prospect goalie himself, the situation can change at any time. I dont think anyone was expecting that to happen.

I can agree with that, but I think the dead cap moving forward the next few years is going to be a huge factor. This year was the year they got cap savings, so they could make a move for a Fleury as a rental. The combined cap hits from Suter/Parise go from 4.7M this year to 12.7M next year. The double buyout at the same time is going to be about 15% of their cap for next year, if the cap doesn't grow much.

I hear ya. I just think any of the goalies listed are still years out from being NHL viable. So much can change by the time they get to the league. Thats why situation shouldn't play into the question, but that's just my thoughts.
