Mitch Marner involved in carjacking

That's crazy.

This happened 5 mins from where I live. It was all over the news tonight - obviously no mention of the victim being Marner - but it makes senses why its getting so much coverage now for a relatively common occurrence. Since it's public that the victim happens to be Marner the cops are gonna turn over every rock till they catch the thieves (as opposed to doing nothing for every other average joe who gets their car stolen).

Poor kid though... just wants to unwind at the theatre after game 7 and gets his car jacked at gunpoint. That can be traumatizing.

It sucks for Marner. It will suck much more if the catch the perps, as carjacking the famous with fans is going to make it very uncomfortable.

A US congresswoman was carjacked in Philly last year, and they stole her government phone, plus other stuff if I remember right. They got themselves leveled up to a federal crime for that one.

The car is sold overseas already likely.

By the time cops get involved it's on a shipping container in Montreal. By the time they get any warrant to go searching for it it's not in Canada. It's a a group of well organized thieves that carjack high end cars. The thing is gone.

The thing that sucks about it was that it was at a Cineplex and I think it was Marner's Brothers Bday. So they could have been celebrating that with a movie before going out, or staying in to avoid the public for Marner. There's no good time to be carjacked, but that certainly wasn't it.
