Question Choose My Two Weakest Keepers - REP Given

    Hey All,

For the BOTTOM team in my sig (points only), which two or three keepers do you consider to be my worst? I'm also allowed to keep 5 minors, which I've listed separately. Very happy with them so no need to consider that side of things.

I'll have the ability via trade to upgrade a few keepers over the summer. Who should be at the top of my "cut" list? Which keepers should I try to replace? Thanks! REP given.

Let em brew. They all have pretty good upside. You’re clearly rebuilding w 2 1sts next year and 5! In an extremely strong 2023 draft. Presuming you own your own firsts, and bottom teams have the better chance at landing top picks, hold the course for next year at least.

Mercer and Dunn, plus one of the Philly guys, who I'm inclined to say should be Konecny, as he just hasn't shown enough whereas Farabee will hit his 200 game breakout threshold in 2022-23.

I think you want to upgrade Dunn/Hronek badly, as they are your best D keepers. That would be my focus on upgrades. Otherwise, I think you probably keep one.

    For cuts:
In this format, you don't want Hart. The Flyers are putrid and could be worse next year. Yes, they might get Ellis healthy, but subtracting Giroux and adding Couturier back is about a wash. They don't have many prospects, and the GM will do some dumb stuff again in the off-season. I could see keeping Francouz over him, depending on what Colorado does in net.

The other cut would be tougher: Mercer, Konecny, Farabee could be that guy. I suspect you can deal Mercer with a D to upgrade, though.

In points only, Dunn is an easy choice. You could use help on D badly. I would also likely move on from Konecny (or at the very least, assume he will be relatively easy to redraft).

A few have suggested Hart, but I think that depends on how hard it is to find goalies in your league. I think Hart will eventually turn the corner (and hopefully the team in from of him will too). And your team is no where near competing, so you have time to wait for that to happen.

I'd probably lean towards Necas for my third cut, but I can see an argument for Mercer or Farabee as well.

Depends on how valuable goalies are in your leauge.

If they're valuable: Dunn, Mercer, Konecny.

If they're not valuable: Dunn, Mercer, Hart.

I'm actually going to go against the grain and say don't drop Mercer. He did pretty damn well on a pretty shit team. I think I might drop Konecny, Hart, and one of Dunn/Necas/Newhook. I really like the latter 2, I just don't see an easy path to quality minutes for either of them whereas Mercer has a relatively easy go of it. All NJ has to do is improve marginally and Mercer's production should increase considerably.

Dunn for sure, and then maybe Farabee. I think Philly is on the downwards trajectory and they don't have a lot to be hopeful about. I like Necas, especially as Carolina has a few UFAs and I expect Necas to be on the 2nd or 3rd line next season, unlike the 4th line this year. Mercer is unproven but I like NJ, so I'd rather cut Farabee.

He might be, but I'd bet on Fletcher keeping Fedotov in the AHL. Sandstrom could be the backup next year, maybe Ustimenko, or an overpaid to push Hart, or get Hart dealt since he's got ties to Hextall. Sadly, the current front office is pretty much trash that is poison.
