Pierre Dorian has been GM since 2016. In that time, Lajoie, Dahlen, Batherson, and Formenton have played a tangible amount of NHL games of players draft beyond the first round. Nobody except the 2018 Sens have felt Lajoie should be an NHL player. Dahlen's games are in a different organization.

Excluding Formenton and Batherson (which were legitimately great picks), and Dahlen and Lajoie (for the already explained reasons), non-top 5 Senators draft picks since 2016 have played a total of 143 games. Over 6 seasons. 32 players. Yea Pierre Dorian is just crushing it at the draft.

No kidding right. Imagine having numbers or something to back up your point.

To be fair, the analytics crowd wanted Zadina over Brady Tkachuk. Formenton probably goes on the list of regular contributors as well.

Never said Dorian was crushing it. Just pointing out that McGuire was a significant drag on their talent evaluation. He is not good at anything related to hockey. The organization is clearly better off without him.

I’d be curious to know how a few other organizations stack up on non-first rounders number of games played during the same time period. And I guess if you’re making comparisons you’d need to count those great picks too so you’re not trying to skew the data to prove a point. I’m not going to bother compiling that data but if you want to spend the time to highlight some really good teams and their draft success over the same time period I’d be interested.

If Dorian overruled his scouts at 10OV for a guy who’d been on the job for 41 days that’s probably a more damning statement on Dorian than the actual pick.

Pierre seems like the colleague you have that at first glance would seem to know whats up and is really annoying about it cause he thinks hes the best ...... when in reality he just annoys the living crap out of everyone else around him and isnt actually good at what he does at all
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.

    Seems pretty spot on.
