This is more about Matthews winning the Hart, which I can objectively say with a level-head, is a lock.

Watching Donaldson in his MVP yr, you could tell a few games before the end of the season when he locked it up with a walk off MONSTER HR vs the Rays. That Matthews goal vs Dallas felt the same way. I get the "Toronto only thinks about Toronto" narrative outside fans use, but I think the thought of McDavid has already won it and his talent has become boring is a bigger MVP voting issue than Matthews in Toronto winning it.

It's all in good fun. Glad for you guys. I'm not AS convinced he is a lock, though for the reasons I mentioned earlier, I would be awfully surprised if he didn't win. The award often doesn't get given out for what it actually is for, and there's no reason it should this time either.

I don't see anything objective or level-headed about your statement. Also, calling anybody who disagrees with you "delusional", is pretty ridiculous.

Exactly. To call Matthews a lock is inherently not objective and not level-headed. He’s certainly the favourite. Matthews might not even win the Rocket. Connor could still set a new cap-era points record. Gaudreau could set a 5v5 points record. Josi could be the first defenceman to score 100 points in the cap era. Makar could set the cap era defence record. Sheshterkin has fallen off a bit and even with that could have the best save % of the last 30 years.

Calling Matthews the favorite is the objective, level-headed take.
