i definitely wonder how the lack of the world juniors in dec/jan ended up changing the fortunes for better (and worse) for some players.
nevertheless, looking forward to seeing lekkerimaki in action as by all accounts he slipped to 15th where the canucks picked him
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.

Brandt Clarke still out of this team... whats happened guys?
Dont inderstand this one. Someone got an explication?
Byfield, Drysdale, Quinn, Jarvis, Holloway, Schneider, Sillinger and Levi are all eligible still I think. And Lafreniere isn't eligible because of his late Bday but he was almost still eligible. This could have been a huge tournament with NHL level players across all teams (Stutzle, Raymond, Sanderson, Rossi, Lundell, Eklund, Berniers for non-Canadian players) but the Kirby Dach injury a few yrs ago def is something teams are thinking about.
I think Montreal asked Slafkovsky and Mesar not to go

Sucks that a lot eligible stars are choosing to opt out.
Has anyone seen any finalized rosters for any other countries.... got a draft starting right away and want the upper hand!

Does anyone want to help me with the big draft that Nights put on every year?
I have a tempalte and if I had help updating it and entering rosters I would give it a last minute go.

Pre Tournament games start today.
Finland and Sweden have 3 pre-tourney games.
Canada and USA only have one. - I wonder if this is because of travel or related to caution after the Kirby Dach injury a couple years ago.

Gotta agree with you that it's between Canada and Sweden, with Canada coming out on top. Their team is stacked even considering all the players who aren't showing up. Sweden has the top goalie in the tournament and he alone could steal them the finals, and maybe the best non-goalie in edvinsson as well. There's an argument that can be made that no one has more to play for than him, as a very strong showing could cement his spot in the red wings' lineup.
But Canada has bedard and a bunch of other top stars, plus their goaltending isn't that far behind Sweden's. They'll have the round robin to figure out who starts in the medal round. It'll be really cool if we get to see a cossa vs edvinsson final, the two red wing first round picks from last year's draft.
I'll also agree the bronze is between usa and Finland, but I'll give the win to the Americans. Their offense and defence are great. What takes them out of the gold medal conversation is their goaltending. Even if commesso was playing it's still not on Canada and Sweden's level, and now they don't even have him. But their offense and defence is enough for a bronze. I don't think Finland can match the usa's firepower up front, and on defence it's a complete mismatch.
Gold Canada
Silver Sweden
Bronze USA
Top forward - Bedard
Top defenceman -Edvinsson
Top goalie - Wallstedt
