Mods can adjust thread name as the retirement report has been refuted.

Sounds like the plan is still to retire, just wants to do it on his own schedule

I'm just surprised since Tampa basically has a cake walk to another division win next year.

    Why stop now?

He has six rings to destroy half the NFL with one snap

No player who only plays half the time the team is on the field can be the greatest professional player of all time in any team sport. Of the four major North American team sports, only basketball players and maybe hockey goalies can be in the equation due to playing all or nearly all the minutes. I won't count baseball pitchers as contributing to batting, except for Babe Ruth and Walter Johnson. Because goalies aren't involved in the play half the time, it then defaults to basketball players or Babe Ruth. So then you're looking at Michael Jordan for singular contribution or Bill Russell if you think championships are the only or primary variable. If you go outside team sports, then I'd go Serena Williams.

There's was another thread for this debate... But what about Wilt the Stilt Chamberlain. Hall of Famer in two sports (basketball and volleyball). Surely that trumps any one sport one dimensional player.
    This leads to decathlon athletes.

All a fool's errand to debate about unless parameters are set.

This is a fool's errand, and you're right about that other thread.

Out of the 4 major NA sports (NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA), I would think Brady is the GOAT of 30+ yr old stats. Guy was better the older he got.

Tom Brady probably isn't even the greatest football player of all time, let alone the greatest of any sport. Unless of course you incorrectly overvalue championships, in which case I hope you never complain about player movement and super teams in any sport.
