Default Contenders trading with rebuilders. Thoughts please.

    League in signature.

What are your thoughts on these two deals? One of them was made and one of them is still in negotiations. I’m looking for your immediate thoughts…don’t spend too much of your hard earned intellect.

Weegar (7th best D in league format. 82nd overall ranking) for Broberg and McMichael

Tarasenko (6th best RW, 102 overall) for Byfield

Are both offers good? Horrible? One good, one bad?

1st Deal: If I'm getting Weegar I'm a happy camper. Weegar will most assuredly help his owner pursue a championship. The cost is pretty affordable. Broberg is a big question mark, his viability as a fantasy worthy NHL defensemen is far from a given. McMichael is a nice prospect, but he's a player I would absolutely consider expendable if I get the return I want.

2nd Deal: This one likely benefits both GM's if things work out as planned. Tank should help win your league this year, but you are giving up a blue chip prospect that will likely make this trade look not so good for the guy moving Byfield in the very near future. That said, if you win a championship I can live with losing Byfield. If I'm the guy moving Byfield I would honestly like a slightly better return than Tank, a player that would have a bigger impact on my championship run than Tank. Just sayin'

I prefer Weegar in the 1st offer.

The 2nd offer is tougher. I see you own Byfield so I am not sure if this is the done deal or one you're considering. Tarasenko is a serious sell high right now for me because I think it's just a matter of time before he breaks again and is injured. I dont trust him at all. Byfield is a guy I want to own in a keeper league but if you only got Byfield for Tarasenko (again, dont know how this is playing out with your post being a tad cryptic on which deal is what), I think you could have got more for Tarasenko. If this is the deal you're considering, the only way I am trading Byfield for Tarasenko is if I am making a serious push for a title.

Even with the rookie slots, I hate the first deal. But I'm not super high on Broberg, and I think it'll be very hard for McMichael to land a keeper spot once his rookie status runs out.

The second deal could go either way for me. Tank is win now. Byfield has huge upside (but a lot of competition in LAK).

Deal 2 is perfectly fine for both sides. I have no idea why it's being asked about. I hope it's not in veto discussion or something.

Deal 1 I prefer Weegar, but I can see why someone rebuilding would want to deal Weegar "high", as he's never done this over a 82 game season before, and these 2 seasons have been beyond anyone's wildest expectations for him - and my expectations were considered a bit crazy a couple years ago. If they believe in McMichael, I get it. Broberg is a prospect with a reasonable chance as well. I wouldn't deal Weegar for that, but then again I'm not likely to be rebuilding.

Both fairly reasonable for the situations the teams are in. Second deal closer than first but both are decent.
