I sent him and a 7th for Giroux and a 10th.
Jesse 'Poolparty' Puljujarvi
what would you do with him? he's a borderline keep for me as i see it,hes not bad, he's not great..hes ok good.
i know it's much much to early to look at keepers, but i do have to think about it. you could argue he's better than some on my team, i could argue hes pretty forgettable too. he doesn't stick on Dais or McDs line, for some reason Hyman gets the plumb assignment (?) and likely gets bumped from PP time when Hyman gets back, maybe seems some PP2 time. if he was a C he'd be gone from my team by now.
I'm not really asking if he's a keeper yet, but is he the guy that once was? does the hype train still stop at Poolparty station?

As long as McDavid and Draisaitl breathe and Puljujarvi is an Oiler, the range of possible outcomes for Puljujarvi is exceedingly wide. Just about anything could happen. Past performance does suggest limitations, but still, as a tall, power forward type (the category being notoriously slow in development) playing with HOF candidates, I don't think you can make a conclusion. Only 23 years old, 230 games played.
Someone might have a definite opinion on him. But I think that the true answer here is that no one can have a definite opinion. He's still in a maturation mode.
LOVE that take from Senryu.
So much variation in possible outcomes for him. I think he's an awesome lotto ticket for a rebuilding team to hold and a guy I've moved on from with any of my contending teams.
I think he's going to have a killer season at some point... but that could be 2-3 years away still. Or maybe never.
If I'm rebuilding - I'm stopping at the station. If I'm competing, I want more consistency from my roster spots. Good luck!

Puljujarvi is the Oilers 2nd best winger after whichever of RNH or Draisaitl is playing the wing. Unfortunately, Dave Tippett is still coaching the Oilers and he doesn't like "young" players. Puljujarvi is a better net front option on the PP than Hyman but they were splitting the time while Hyman was healthy depending on who was fresher. Hopefully, Puljujarvi's play and the success of the PP while Hyman has been out will force Tippett to make the switch permanent just like he was forced to play Evan Bouchard who responsed by scoring 2 PP goals in half a game.
Puljujarvi is more likely to become a 70 point player than he is to be limited to 40 points.
I cant say I agree with the bolded part.
None the less, back to the OP, I am not sure I understand what you are asking. You say "but is he the guy that once was?" What exactly does that mean? What was he that you are expecting him to return to??
To me, Puljujarvi is still learning the NHL game and is growing every season. I do agree that 65-70pts is something attainable for him but I dont see him as much more than that.
