Pettersson for Deangelo

Currently in 2nd place and 3 points out of 1st. Won the league last year so looking to repeat. I've missed Kucherov all year but he is 4-5 games away for counting towards my points which pushes 1 of: B Tkachuk, Forsberg, J Hughes or Suzuki into my bottom 4 forwards that don't count for points which would join Pettersson, Tippett and Yamamoto.

My d core is top heavy but then thins out with: Makar, Q Hughes, Letang, Chabot, Karlsson, Dunn as my top 6 d men that count for points.

Winning is obviously the priority and I have an opportunity to acquire Deangelo for Pettersson Dunn and some other players and picks that ultimately don't matter in the trade.

Would anybody move Petey for Deangelo? I understand the risk/regression possibilities. Selling Petey early in his career and hoping Dunn gets PP1 if Gio gets traded has me thinking no move is the best move but there is no doubt Deangelo helps me immediately and immensely even if its short term and I'm torn on what to do.

I'd do that in a heartbeat in a best ball format, and not care about moving forward.

Pettersson is already not helping you at all this year, will he outscore all 3 of Hughes, Forsberg or Tkachuk in the future? Maybe some years, maybe not.
DeAngelo helps you a lot this year, and should be an upgrade on Dunn every year he plays.

Thanks for the input, the GM has countered with Suzuki Pettersson Dunn 2022 3rd round pick for Hoglander Eriksson Ek Deangelo and his 6th round pick which is a bigger hit to my forwards than I would like so I'm trying to counter with swapping either forward for Couture.

That's this GM's calling card unfortunately. I'll see if he meets in the middle and if not look for other options. Price is starting to drift towards unreasonable hoping I'm desperate.

Yep, standard tactic. Bottom line, you determine what you want, what you are willing to pay to get it and that's that. Start moving away from your original objective and your in trouble.
