So I think I finally landed a good one...

So as usual Im rebuilding and in this one Im sending out a pile of payers to a guy whose fighting tooth and nail for a playoff spot but who also has a lot of injured guys coming back and slow starts giving way to guys hitting their proper pace. TLDR version? If he can get in i think he can do some serious damage in the playoffs. In this regard I feel like its a win/win.

18 team sog and goa heavy, weekly hth dynasty.

I send out:

Beruzzi, Blackwood, Garikov, and Evander
I get back Luke and Jack Hughes

I break it down as Blackwood for Luke who has been good enough in our format (2ooish fpts) to be a solid 2/3 insurance goalie. It leaves me to build around swayman and cossa which I could live with and gives me a d-core of Clarke, Lundkvist, Hughes and maybe Severson going forward.

Then Bertuzzi, Kane and Garikov for Jack. He becomes my defacto number one ceter with only a hope (KJ) and a prayer (Glass) behind him- lol! Thing is Bertuzzi has been a beast in our format as hes a soggy/goal type and we getrewarded for its an pims too. The vax thing wont be a thing forver and I think hes breaking into ppg star teritory ala Marchand lite and only hs upside to go. Kane could pot 40 pro-rated with McD and then well all forget his legal issues- lol! Garikov is not nothing in- an 18 team eague where we start 4 D hes a great 3/4 option with a modicum of upside. Not a gamebreaker but not just a throw in either.

is this solely dependant on Kane withe teh Oilers, or fi he signs in lets say Van or FLA is it still valid

Thats a good question!! I asked at one point and it didnt end up getting answered. Nothing is set in stone at this point so Im assuming hell re-evauate if its like TB or FLA. If it were me Id be fine with Florida (top six is so strong that it guarantees elite linemates) wheras TB might scare me a bt (limited role/icetime on a cotender)

i dunno, i really like what Bert brings, and LHughes is still an unknown in the NHL..i could live without Kane and Blackwood

I don't "love" the trade itself - but I do LOVE the guys you're acquiring.

I think both Jack (superstar ceiling) and Luke (all-star ceiling) are awesome pieces to acquire in a rebuild.

Yet you're paying a hefty price for sure, especially since only 1 of them has actually "proven" anything in the show.

Feels like an overpay that you could negotiate a bit further... but if the OGM says that's their "line"... I probably would make this trade. Good luck Emu!

Thanks dewd!! I dont disagree. IN THIS LEAGUE i FEEL LIKE OVERPAYS ARE NECESSARY (WHICH DOESNT MEAN YOU SHOULD MAKE THEM IN AND OF ITSELF) BUT I FEEL LIKE jACKS ONE OF THOSE GUYS WORTH DOING IT FOR. HAVING hOLTZ IS A SWEET ICING ON THE CAKE TOO. Oops sorry for yealling P

Agreed- my biggest concern is that Bert ends up being a post hype breakout guy who becomes a star in his own right. Hes doing a TON with very little to work with and hes mixing in garbage/grimy goals with star spangled dangles as well...
