    Default NHL tweets about racism

So the NHL Public Relations Department tweets today "Incidents of racism, whether they occur in hockey or anywhere else, are abhorrent. The NHL will continue to make its resources available to the hockey ecosystem to educate and inform, with the goal of making the game welcoming and safe for all players and fans."

Is it just hollow words? How about changing Chicago's team name?

The NHL is the worst run sports league in my mind right now and that's including a sport that can't sell out arenas across the sport and one wanted to split it's home games in 2 different countries (MLB).

The appearance of wanting to help, but not being obligated to take any action which might make others upset, is the NHL's only goal.

The NHL didn't want NHL team jerseys in the Hockey Diversity Alliance commercials. That's all we need to know about their stance and if they take it seriously or not.

Black Hawk was a great war chief of the Sauk tribe who fought against America during the War of 1812. I am not a Hawks fan but from what I have read the name was selected as an honor to him as he was the most feared individual in the Midwest during the early 1800s. I dont know all the particulars and it is possible somebody has their knickers twisted over it but this is not the same as "Redskins."

An NBCSports article says the name came from the owner's affiliation with a Black Hawk division within the US Army, which in turn was named after the Sauk chieftain.

It might not be as bad as "Redskins" and it may have originally been meant as a tribute. That doesn't change that many Native American groups find it offensive and have asked for change. It's time to stop naming professional sports teams after a group of racial minorities.

I'd be offended to if my name was attached to that organization

Would you be satisfied if they just changed their logo instead?

No question the logo is a big part of the issue, but no. I wouldn't be satisfied with that. Sure some view this as a tribute, but many view it as offensive and insensitive. As I said, it's time to stop naming our sports teams after racial minorities. Braves, Indians, Blackhawks, Chief. All need to go.
