    Default Chabot trade

    Hi everyone,

I'm in a rebuild and won't be competitive for a few years. I have had back and forth trade talks with a competing OGM (defending champion) for a deal surrounding the following players:

    Give: Pietrangelo, C Petersen (goalie)
    Get: Chabot, Fiala/A Lundell

He's in need of a goalie (has Hart, Hill, and Talbot) and he does not have other players that fit into my competitive window (apart from Draisaitl or Marner and he's not trading those while chasing championships)
I'm weak at center and have a lot of promising wingers coming through, which is another reason why I'm preferring to get a center such as Lundell back rather than Fiala.

While I think AP is the better player, there's a sizeable age difference between him and Chabot, who I think can improve when Ottawa gets better (unless ownership screws it up again). I'm carrying four goalies and I'd prefer to carry a max of three. I'm trying to stockpile high-end talent so while Fiala is a good player, I'm wary of his streakiness and I see him as low keeper material. Lundell looks promising and I've heard good things, but I would've expected a higher trade market for my players. So I can sit tight and carry AP and four goalies into next season or until I receive a really enticing offer, but I'd prefer to move them this season.

So my options are to sit tight, or propose this trade. Is the value right?

Thanks in advance, and REP when I can!

I would make that trade for sure. And do it with Lundell if you’re weak at C.

I would only do it for Chabot and Lundell. Lundell will be a very special player in the future. Selke potential. On the other hand, Fiala tops out as a 2nd line winger, there isnt much ceiling above where he is now.

There is nothing in your signature that indicates why Centers matter in your set up.

While Lundell looks like a very special player, he could the third line C in Florida for at least two more years. That top 6 is just stacked.

Chabot had a monster year early, but I'm not exactly crazy about him.

It's not a bad deal, but it does feel like you are chasing youth a bit to me....

Ya with the other young goalies you have, can afford to lose Peterson and chabot for pietrangelo is a good move if your not competing for a while

I don't see an inherent reason to prefer a center over a wing in you signature.

I think Fiala's value is likely to go up in a second half surge, but I also like Lundell for the future, just not so near-term.

We start 3C, 6 wingers, 2 skaters (any position), and 5 D. Right now my centers are Cirelli, Hughes, and Cozens so it's my weakest position as my wingers are stronger. I have Jarvis and Frost as potential centers but Frost is unproven and Jarvis might lose center eligibility.

Thanks for the replies! I wish the market was stronger but I want to capitalise on AP's value with Eichel coming back, and I have excess goalies but haven't had a deal worth doing up until maybe now. As I'm not competing for a few years (the top teams are extremely strong), I want to focus on youth. We'll see if this one goes through.

Fiala is going to get a huge boost from playing with Boldy. I don't think people realize quite how good Boldy is already. I'll take that trade no matter who it is between Lundell and Fiala. But I've also never been Piets biggest fan.
