Major first trade of retool.
Hi guys.
I'm currently in 2nd last place in a 12 team H2H league.
I am being offered:
His J.Robertson + R.Dahlin for my A. Kopitar + K. Letang.
With both my guys sitting at 34 yrs old (likely to have 1 or 2 serviceable yrs left), should I pull the trigger and retool or hold and give it 1 last kick at the can nest season, considering Letang is a BEAST in this league.
I love Dahlins potential and Robertson is killing it in Dallas. Not sure I get this return next season if there's a sharp decline in my players output.

Nothing wrong with this for a team rebuilding. Before I accept, I'd ask for an upgrade draft pick. If that doesn't fly, it's still a nice return for aging veterans. This may not pay off for 2 years, but if that's your rebuild window it's all good IMO.

Good idea! I'll ask for a little sweetener as a throw in. We keep 10 at seasons end and Dahlin + Robertson would be keepers. The rest of my team isn't old so I can wait the 2 yrs to move up the ranks.Originally Posted by Bubba55

Yes i would ask for even a mid to late draft pick. Then if he says no I would say Okay I'll take it as is.

I would also see if I could get a pick or something, but it's pretty good. Letang is a beast in formats like yours, and I had tried to deal him previously and got junk offers, this is solid.

Honestly I don't think I'd risk losing this deal by asking for an upgrade. Just gives him a chance to change his mind. This is a GREAT trade for a rebuilding team.

Done deal ✅ with Robocop & Tanger. Didn't push for sweetener...but feel the deals great for both teams. Thanks everyone for the fine advice!
