Crosby who isn't in this yr (likely his own choice) has missed 5 ASG in his 17yr career. (3 yrs have been Olympic yrs, so no ASG). So he's missed 5/14yrs.

In his yrs missed (2012, 13, 16, 20, 22) he's played 195games, and scored 251pts for 105.5pts/82games. 2 of those yrs were his concussion yrs in 2012/13 where he only played 48games, but score 93 points.

Not sure why this event is happening. I imagine there's gonna be a tough enough time making up all postponed games as is no? Do this event at the very end of the year for schedule sakes

During the summer, the league said they scheduled the event for Feb 3-6 in Vegas because they assumed most players going to the ASG would be going to the Olympics so the players could fly to Beijing from Vegas the day after the event (or night of) to make it to Beijing for Feb 7th (the start of the Olympics).

The ASG being in Vegas will generate a lot of money for the league, which is why it's happening. It's 2 sold out events, plus whatever other side pay they get from sales happening and the league needs it more than ever.

Zib was voted in as the "Last Man In" and he is opting not to go due to "a personal situation in Sweden". The NHL has said that they will not suspend him for missing the game.

Rumblings about the personal situation is a family matter.

Because it's 2 events that are sold out.

The first NHL ASG Draft yr had a 42% increase in sponsorship revenue over the previous ASG, best retail performance in like 7yrs, 31,000+ People attended the NHL Fan Fair event. That ASG was also the most watched ASG ever with nearly 1.5mill viewers (36% increase over the previous ASG).

I would assume this is a big event for sponsors, retail potential, and viewers because you have fans from 32 teams potentially watching the event. It's a chance to get new fans to watch and enjoy players personalities, and same with young kids. It's obvious to me why this event MUST happen. Same with Outdoor games for sales, and especially the March Leafs game vs Buffalo in Hamilton. They are big revenue generators in not just ticket sales.


And the ASG pauses the schedule from Feb 3rd to Feb 7th. That's not that long, you're rescheduling 2, maybe 3 games per team that would happen if you removed the event.

I think the NHL destroyed it. Last time I watched was when they did North America vs World
