    Default Keeper Question

OK Dobber experts, looking for your insight. Stutzle was just dropped in my league and I am looking to snag him.

As I look at my keepers for next year (keep 8 - no restrictions) would he make my top 8?

    Keepers:
    MacKinnon
    Rantanen
    J Hughes
    Makar

    Then 4 of:
    Zegras
    Dahlin
    Hellebyuck
    Saros
    Bennett
    Stutzle

Kept both Saros and Hellebyuck last year but not sure I want to keep 2 moving forward.

Who would your other 4 keepers be?

    Thanks
    Scooter

I don't think Stutzle makes the cut. I'd still be keeping both Saros and Hellebuyck. Zegras would be a keeper.

Is that Dahlin from Buffalo misspelled or Dahlen from SJ?

Thanks Axeman, that is Dahlin from Buffalo (will correct the spelling).

So it would come down to Dahlin or Bennett as my last keeper. Either way, Stutzle isn't there yet in a limited Keeper like this for me.

In a keep 8 with goalie categories = 3/11 categories there's 0 chance I'd keep 2 goalies in these setting unless there's something I'm missing. You should have plenty of redraft options for goalies and skaters have more value.

Zegras (must keep), Helle/Saros (I lean Helle), Bennett, and then your choice of Stutzle/Dahlin/... possibly Bouchard

I only add Bouchard b/c if he surplants Barrie on the PP1 I think he has more immediate value than Dahlin based on that opportunity alone.

I'd probably see if you could swing a Saros + Dahlin etc trade for a more solid 8th keeper -- Feel free to add any other rostered player to make that trade that's not in your 7 keepers. Bennett may be a sell high, however, he currently looks unstoppable and is putting up Evander Kane value without the risk so I really would hold and hope that this is the reality on Bennett for the future - as long as he's with Huberdeau I don't think he slows down.

This is the one. No way in hell i'm losing a single one of those guys for Stutzle, as much as I love him too. I'm surprised by the Bennett love, I would not in anyway consider keepering him over those 4.

How many goalies are typically kept in your league? And does any other team keep 2Gs?

I'm on board with packaging either goalie and a non-keeper for an upgrade, unless there is something funky about your league and goalies that I don't know about...

About 18 goalies are kept every year. Half the teams keep 1 goalie and half keep 2. The benefit of 2 solid starters is that you only need 2 goalies and can then add players in other positions (as daily lineup). If I package one now, I need to rely on Saros or Hellebyuck and Petersen (nothing much available on the wire as 40 Goalies are rostered).

I would prefer not to keep 2 goalies, so will look to see what package I can create with a team with weak tenders.

I'd be very willing to keep those 2 goalies. Can you trade off-season? If so, I'd lean towards that.

Stutzle isn't in the mix for you just yet.

Thanks all, will hold for now and try to make the trade to move a goalie in the off season.
