Anyone have an exercise bike and like it? I'm looking at buying on, but not a top end one. My plan is to likely buy a $400 one on Amazon or something and get a Peloton membership and use it likely that.

Just wondering what features I should be looking at for the bike. Or any recommendations on a bike would be cool too.

If your goal is simply cardio, why not do HIIT exercises instead? More exciting than planting your ass in a seat LOL!

If you have a decent bike already or plan on getting one, maybe a resistance trainer is better? It'll take up less space and is half the cost.

Gravel bikes are popular right now, they can go practically anywhere, but it depends most on what going on around you. Are you in the city, country etc.

That's how I've been surviving COVID. OrangeTheory still releases free weekly HIIT videos that are broken down into Upper, Lower, Cardio, Core and Stretching.

I do stuff like HIIT, but with low ceilings in the room I workout in, and 6'7" it's sometimes difficult during the winter months to really do work. I usually go outside and do the workouts as I can actually get into it more based on space.

I skip rope too, but again...winter...and it needing to be done outside.

Ahh, gotcha. I'm 5'8" so ceiling height isn't an issue for me

Not sure if you already have a bike, but I bought a smart trainer and a Zwift subscription to keep me sane while recovering from a long running injury. It's been great.

I have had a stationary bike for years and I enjoy it. Nothing fancy but it does have a digital display with a couple different programs and it tracks a few items such as RPMs and calories burned. It was actually a throw-in when I bought a bunch of weights and a bench from a guy cleaning out his basement. I didn't want the bike but had to take it. The bench and weights are gone but I ride the bike once or twice a week in the winter. It's a nice option when it is too cold to walk or run outside. Give me my tablet and I'll burn 5-600 calories in 30-45 minutes.

I'd love to get a Peloton but it's too much money. Probably should look into the Zwift.

If you like doing long rides, make sure you pick the right seat. If you can test out the seat and if not read the reviews carefully. You can really put yourself in a lot of discomfort with a bad seat!

And don't forget to look and see what is available used in your area. Used exercise bikes are always for sale around me either on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace.

Stationary bike in front of a TV with hockey/netflix works like magic. I would not spend the peloton money they're asking, but it depends on your goals and budget

So I ended up getting a Joroto XM16 and am using the Peloton app (60days for free) and I really like it. The only complaint so far is that I can't follow resistance that have been called out by the instructor quite yet. I gotta find the conversion that works for me.

It's a lot of work using the classes, it's at least not just peddling. I did just do an hr while watching the Leaf game the other night and it ended up being hard on my legs but didn't feel like it raised my heart rate enough for my liking.

I'm enjoying it. But I need to look for a tablet instead of my phone. I have an old tablet, but the Peloton app doesn't work on it.
