Cole Perfetti- upside 35-45-80. Safer “floor” of 25-35-60
Kent Johnson upside 30-50-80 but he’s boom / bust.
Mason McTavish possibly the most goals. Upside 40-35-75. Relatively safe bet for 30-25-55+
Cole Sillinger really good player but I don’t see the same upside. Very trochek like. Maybe an outlier of 35-40-75 but more likely 60ish points most years. Floor would be just below.

So it depends on risk tolerance. I like the 3 but personally I’m staying away from Kent Johnson.

    I like this list order.

Also, Jack Quinn for me. Johnson has been hyped because he's the recent draft class, but Buffalo decided to go with Quinn over Rossi for a reason, and it's showing. He's last years' 8th overall pick, and Buffalo went with him because they thought he had the higher offensive upside.

Since then, all he's done is absolutely dominated the AHL in his post-draft year at a rate rarely seen, and then had a debut with Buffalo where they plopped him in a great position and on PP1.

The appeal to authority fallacy isn't going to hold water when the authority is Buffalo.

Quinn is currently behind TJ Tynan in AHL points per game this year.

All joking aside, Quinn's AHL has been great, and he might be good. But I think Johnson has a higher ceiling and at the prospect stage, I'd rather gamble on ceiling than Frank Vatrano-like goodness.

I hear what you're saying, but obviously being wrong on a prospect before doesn't mean their assessments are valid. We can point to bad draft picks by every team, in hindsight.

But the end story is the same for Quinn: Buffalo did their due diligence, and all of them--including scouts--felt they should take Quinn at 8th, and they felt he was a late bloomer who also had the work ethic to become a star in the NHL. That was only last year. And now he is producing at a superstar level in terms of NHL equivalency in the AHL.

So far, all Johnson has done is produce similarly this year in the NCAA as last year--he hasn't taken a huge step forward, and he has similar draft pedigree as Quinn.

For my money, Quinn has the higher upside.

Obviously though, we are just guessing at this point and I could be wrong.

You absolutely could be correct, and there is evidence at hand which supports your belief. We'll have to see!
