Default How many skaters will play all 82 games this season?

For context, here's the appearance data for the prior five full seasons:

2018-19 = 906 skaters appeared in at least one game, 106 appeared in 82+ games (a couple had more than 82 due to changing teams during the season)
2017-18 = 890 skaters appeared in at least one game, 103 appeared in all 82 games
2016-17 = 888 skaters appeared in at least one game, 99 appeared in all 82 games
2015-16 = 898 skaters appeared in at least one games, 85 appeared in 82+ games (again, a couple had more than 82 due to changing teams during the season)
2014-15 = 882 skaters appeared in at least one game, 85 appeared in 82+ games (again, a couple had more than 82 due to changing teams during the season)

I was surprised that the trend was more skaters playing in all their teams' games. After all, I thought teams were resting stars more once they clinched a playoff spot, or shutting someone down if their team is out of it.

As for 2021-22, I'm not sure how many skaters have even played all of their team's games thus far; however, between COVID and other factors I'd be shocked if more than a few dozen ended up appearing in all 82 games, that is of course if each team indeed logs 82 games for 2021-22. Assuming that all teams actually play a full 82 game schedule, my guess is 37.

Any other guesses? We can check once the season is over to see who was closest. And no Price Is Right rules - closest wins, whether over or under the actual number.

    Zero.

The only way someone will hit 82 is if they're traded from a team who has played a bunch of games early, to a team that had a few postponed games.

The odds of missing at least 1 due to covid is extremely high at this point.

The only team I looked at was the Hawks. They have 16 players who are now on or had been on the list. I'm betting 0 Hawks play 82 games. I'll go 3 guys in NHL play 82 games.

    This is the answer !

If I had to guess I would say 63, just under 2 per team.

    104 is my guess

Teams like Calgary should have lots which will keep the number higher than expected.

Quick update on this. Here are the number of players who thus far have played in all their teams' games:

    Anaheim - 3
    Arizona - 3
    Boston - 3
    Buffalo - 1
    Calgary - 12
    Carolina - 4
    Chicago - 2
    Colorado - 3
    Columbus - 4
    Dallas - 6
    Detroit - 5
    Edmonton - 4
    Florida - 2
    LA - 3
    Minnesota - 2
    Montreal - 1
    Nashville - 2
    New Jersey - 2
    Islanders - 3
    Rangers - 4
    Ottawa - 4
    Philadelphia - 4
    Pittsburgh - 2
    San Jose - 2
    Seattle - 2
    St. Louis - 1
    Tampa Bay - 3
    Toronto - 6
    Vancouver - 2
    Vegas - 2
    Washington - 0
    Winnipeg - 4

There you have it. Already a team with no players, and nearly all teams with fewer than a handful.

Solid work there. quick math shows me that there are 101 players still eligible to play every game. Yandle and Kessel obviously amongst them.

Shocking that Montreal has one player that has played all their games.

    42.

Bold prediction: Yandle doesn't make it, as he shouldn't be dressing every night.

Kind of tough, but the 2 number might still be correct!

Turns out I was pretty close with my guess of 37, as the final total was 45:

Wow - you were almost exactly right, and you nailed Yandle. Well done!
