Laff had to go through waivers once Malkin got activated, or one of their IR guys activated. Nylander is in the AHL so they get to open up an NHL roster spot, and get a player to play on their AHL roster.

Alex and Will had the same negatives...drive and dedication apparently. Willy has gone through his stretches of "aloofness" but he's slowly weeded that out of his game. Alex has the same thing, but he's been on teams that don't really breed the "You gotta try and goals against matter" mentality.
Alex has also gone through a lot of injury issues.
I think there was people comparing the potential as roughly the same when Alex was drafted though, but most sided with Will being more talented.
