So, I'll be on vacation as this starts rolling, and will be busy with a move in August, so I think I need to do myself a favor and take this one off.

If someone else wants to run with it, I can provide the templates/give insight on the process of running the pool. The bulk comes from updating the initial template (about 1hr, more if I am deliberating on who to include as captains but I crowdsource most of that decision), receiving/entering/validating submissions (about 1-2hr), entering stats (would take me about 10-20 minutes per game day) and posting the update (5 mins max). So 2 hours of setup, 2 hours of entry day of submission deadline, and about half an hour daily at the high end in terms of time commitment.

I would offer to help but I am heading camping August two days after the tournament starts, so I would not be able to update it through most of the tournament.

Considering how many of the top players play for Canada (way more so than in other years) and the 5 players per team limit, it will be a lot harder than usual to fill out our rosters.

I have a unique idea that we've never done anything like in this pool. You guys might hate it but I'm throwing it out anyways...
Remove Connor Bedard from the pool altogether.
He's gonna be a captain. Probably along with Cooley and the likes of Guenther, Stankoven, Wright (I don't think any Swedes or Finns are locks this year, maybe Kemell or Lysell). I would say at least 90% of the teams will have Bedard.
Now with Bedard out, it's a tough call who of those guys to choose as captain. Cases could easily be made for all of them.
D captains are also pretty close to each other - Hughes, Zellweger, Clarke, Jiricek. I think those are the clear top 4 guys. No one else stands out to me. And again, cases could be made for all four of these guys.

Probably. But at least we’d be allowing anyone daring enough not to pick him (think back to Dach’s injury, god forbid), everyone would have a tough call to make as captain and we wouldn’t be setting a precedent of excluding the tournament’s top player.
