I really like this suggestion. I would only replace Simontaival with Hirvonen and/or a second Canadian forward.

I agree on Hirvonen instead of Simontaival, and would probably make sense to add a second Canadian forward. The choices would be between McTavish, Johnson and Guenther. Whichever ones are not captains are probably winding up on everyone's team though, which is why I had suggested earlier having all 4 as captains.
Also, if William Eklund is not a captain I can't imagine every single entry not choosing him.
I would go with Eklund and the Canadians (to be honest, all 4 of them) over Hirvonen as captain, and possibly even Khusnutdinov.

And I think Luke Hughes needs to be a D captain.

If anyone wants to make my life easier and make suggestions for captains for the 2022 pool (see https://forums.dobbersports.com/show...obber-WJC-Pool for last year's edition and what I'm talking about), let me know.

I've had a rough few work days and tomorrow won't be different, so I'll take it easy and recover and then get into the swing of things for this year's pool (which unless I feel shittier for longer than I expect to be, is still the plan!). Looking to set that up and post the entry form around December 20th-21st-22nd.

Running into a bit of a motivational problem (more like "last 3 weeks of work leading into vacation took a lot out of me and I'm still not quite recovered") so I'll hope that gets sorted out today, although tomorrow might be more realistic.

So far I think this is what the captains will look like, in case you wanted to start planning ahead. Still internally debating on the /'s but the first name is likely. The other standalones are locks at this point for captaincy.

F - Perfetti, Beniers, Eklund, Holtz, Simontaival/Hirvonen, Guenther/McTavish

D - Power, Niemela, Sanderson, Edvinsson, Mukhamadulin(RUS)/Hughes(USA)

With the /'s , I'd go with the second guys, namely McTavish and hirvonen. McTavish has already been in the NHL and was a much higher pick, and hirvonen is Finland's captain, but either way it'll be fine. Thanks for doing this again.

Interesting game for Canada last night. Wild first period that Canada was lucky to come out if tied. The 5 on 3 in the 2nd period really saved their bacon then then turned it on. I found their D got caught pinching all game long, giving up way too many odd man rushes. Good thing this was game one against a subpar opponent. They play that way against a good team and this game is probably out if reach after the 1st period.

Bring on the Austrians tomorrow night.

The first games/periods of the big teams vs the little teams have shown that they've missed a few pre-tourney games. The chemistry from the team is garbage for a lot of them, with sprinklings of chemistry between players.

The game between the United States and Switzerland at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship on Tuesday has been canceled after two United States players tested positive for COVID-19.

The game in Group B in the preliminary round was to be played at WP Centrium in Red Deer, Alberta.

"We're extremely disappointed, especially for our players," United States general manager John Vanbiesbrouck said. "We're operating in an ever-changing landscape and that's very challenging. We've followed the tournament protocol from the outset and will continue to do everything we can to ensure our players have the opportunity to compete at the World Junior Championship."

The result of the game will be recorded as a 1-0 victory for Switzerland (1-0-0-1) by forfeit, according to IIHF rules.
