Looks like his knee. Possibly ACL or MCL? Really hoping it's a Barkov situation where it's a sprain but he looked in pain. Is it just me or is this season more than any in the past few years chalked full of injuries?

It’s not just you. It’s well documented that injuries are up across all sports in the last year or so.

People are floating theories related to disrupted seasons and training schedules because of the pandemic. Complications from having contracted covid. Complications from vaccines.

All in all, it makes sense. Elite athletes are usually creatures of habit. They have lifelong routines that have allowed them to reach the level they are at now. Those routines have been completely disrupted over the last 2 years. Now that they are pushing themselves back to the level that they were at before, many of their bodies aren’t ready for it.

Also… the Wheeler injury sucks… hope he’s not out too long. He was dropped in my keep 11 league just before he went off on this hot streak. He even cleared waivers and I was able to snag him from the FA pile Nov 28 just after his 2 assist night against Calgary.

Blake Wheeler did skate on both legs... albeit not easily, so that is somewhat of a positive. I hope it isn't too serious or I am farked. I have been nailed so hard by injuries. Also feel for the guy. He was having such a great bounce back from a terrible start. Had 12 points in his last 7 games.

Traded for Wheeler and Duchene 10 days ago and both of them go out with injuries within 24 hours of one another. Wheeler was in the middle of a hot streak and now this. Sucks, I too hope it's more of a Barkov situation.

that means nothing..you can walk without ACL or MCL...probably wont last long as knee is not kept in place properly but its not unusual that you can walk or skate slowly...you will not be able to push it as there is nothing to stabilize your knee .

Wheeler has been dropped in my 1 year league. I wonder if I should use my waiver priority to pick him up?
I just read online that he won't need an operation. What is your guess of time miss? 6 weeks?
