WJC 2022 League - Discussion
STANDINGS
This is a different league from the classic Dobber pickem. This one is a classic snake draft where we take the 100ish best WJC skaters and goalies.
Draft:
Draft date TBD - it is a slow draft on the forum that will start some time in the next week or two
Around 100 picks, # of round depends on # of teams
No positional limitations
No limits on # of players selected per country
If you want to draft goalies, you get the goalies for the whole team. So if you take Kazakhstan Goalies, you get anyone who plays for them and the points they rack up.
Scoring:
Goal = 1
Assist = 1
Goalie Win = 2
Goalie Shutout = 1
Games towards a medal count - round robin, all of the medal round including bronze game
Other settings:
No transactions after the draft
Injury/COVID/otherwise unavailable players can be replaced before the start of the tournament - details on that later
Note: not sure how IIHF scores it, but for the purposes of this league, a shootout 1-0 loss counts as a shutout, and a shootout goal does not count as a goal. Also, goalie points count as long as the IIHF scores them.
PH and I will be running the draft on the forums here. We would like to get this draft going as soon as we get sufficient numbers. We would like to get anywhere from 5-15 teams with wiggle room of course on those numbers.

None of the guys playing in NA got into the team. Plus once upon a time Miroshnichenko declined SKA offer in favour of Avangard and this is the vengeance side too from oligarkh hockey bosses.

I was a bit confused by the Miroschnichenko decision because he plays in the SHL for Omskie Krylia in Omsk Russia. But I guess if he's declined an offer by SKA, I get it more now.
But he's been in Russia forever, just thought it wouldn't have run that deep.

Yeah, I should've separated him and his frictions with management and the "NA guys" like Matvej Petrov and Chayka.
This is his comment about the situation:
I think I am 100% ready for the WJC, but my opinion is at odds with the coaching staff. I was told that I did not fit. I was upset, of course, but not very much.
I have two more years to play at the WJC, but all I have to do is play, and the coaches to decide whether to take me or not.
