    Default Erik Karlsson Live

I was at Rangers v Sharks on Friday night, and was keeping my eye on a few players, no one more than Erik Karlsson.

He is playing great offensively, something happens every time he's on the ice - his passing is still otherworldly, saucers, dumps that look like dumps but are in fact brilliant passes, and his shooting is top notch.

Defensively, he's definitely not what he once was from a mobility perspective - you see him having to back off early when there's a transition, so as not to get beat outside. And he does get beat outside, Gauthier did it to him once for a scoring chance in close.

But in fantasy, it doesn't matter, all you should care about is that offensively he's still very solid - not the 2015 vintage Erik Karlsson, but pretty damn good.

From a comparison perspective - Burns played well, but had nowhere near the same impact as Karlsson offensively.

One thing I've noticed about Burns is that he seems to be more productive when Karlsson isn't in the lineup. I haven't checked the stats, so maybe it's more bias reasoning (I think it's a thing, so I notice it when Burns performs when Karlsson isn't playing).
