Default Goalie claim: Bob, Ned, Sorokin, Talbot or Samsonov

    Hey guys,

For the league in my signature, I own Kuemper. As you all probably know by now, he got hurt and didn't play last night. As I am sitting in first place, I am looking at my options to replace him ASAP in order to maintain my position.

Since this is a shallow league, there are many interesting goalies in the free agent pool. I am looking at the following:

Bobrovsky, Nedeljkovic, Talbot, Sorokin, or Samsonov.

Bob is having a great season on a strong team, however he is injury prone and I am worried that Knight might steal soem starts if he is on a strong stretch and Bob has a few down games. Ned is also having a good season and is the clear starter, but the Wings aren't the Panthers. Talbot and he Wild are having a pretty impressive season, but I am worried they won't keep it up. Sorokin is great, but the Islanders are so bad this year and even though Varlamov has struggled, I am worried that Sorokin won't start as much as the others. As for Samsonov, I am mostly worried about his consistency, considering that Vanecek is a good backup.

Even Quick could be an option, but I think the aforementioned goalies are higher tier.

I keep changing my mind and can't decide. Who whould your pick be?

Also, worth considering that it might be for shrot term only (or could replace one of Binnington, Markstrom or Kuemper if it turns out to be the best move).

    Thanks alot!

Bob is the easy choice. Every time I read about Bob it’s the same argument that Knight will steal starts, go on a run, Bob is injury prone etc. Compare them on Frozen tools and it isn’t even close. Aside from my team in signature, I’m in an 8 team league. I’m running with Bob with no fear. If something happens there are lots of stop gap choices on waivers.

Thanks guys, those are good points and I claimed Bob. I guess the classic Bob argument (injury/Knight) got to me lol

I like what Samsonov's been doing so far.. But I think this has to be Bob... I rank them as:

Bob - I mean, why is he not owned?
Talbot - will likely have more starts then Samsonov and Minnesota is strong
Samsonov - I want to put him second I just need to see a longer sample size
    Sorokin - NYI should rebound..
Ned - I don't think Detroit is there yet..

    Weekly H2H, Points Only, Keeper League - 10 team - Keep 14 (+ 2 rookies, under 25 GP) - dress 12 F, 6 D, 2 G (Wins: 2 pts, OTL: 1 pt, SO: 1 pt) - 30 Roster max w/ 1 IR spot which opens up one roster spot.

FW: Aho, Eichel, Draisatl, Rantanen, Marchand, Matthews, Kyrou, J. Robertson, Bergeron, Duchene, Boldy, Toffoli, Kempe, Krejci, Schmaltz

D: Rielly, Heiskenen, Dobson, Drysdale, Byram, Nurse, Weegar, Matheson, Clarke

G: Andersen, Georgiev, Francouz, Kotchetkov, Wallstedt

I'd probably flip Samsonov and Sorokin but other than that, this is how I'd rank them as well.

FYI, I merged your threads. You don't need to post the same thing more than once.

    Thanks alot guys!

I am also not sure why Bob wasn't owned already. One of the owner took Knight instead and another took Ullmark (these are the 2 that stand out to me).

I know Detroit is not there yet, but volume goalies can be more valuable than other goalies even if they have better stats and as of now he has more points than Kuemper (and little more than Binnington). That is also why I ranked Sorokin last here (cause of course in real life he is higher than Talbot).

And I am sorry for posting twice. I posted it in the "player discussion" section before I realized there was a section specifically for goalies, so I reposted here because I thought it was more appropriate. I meant to delete the first post, but just somehow forgot.

Thanks again for your input guys, really helpful
