    Default ESPN vs. NBC

Did ESPN buy the NHL’s rights just to kill the sport? Tonight, NBC Sports channel would’ve had their rivalry game on TV. ESPN simply IS basketball. Louisville vs Mich St. ? Or Flyers - Rangers.

12-team, H2H. Keep 12, but drop 2 of top four skaters, and also 2 of next six, then five more (from end-of-year rankings). One GK max.

ESPN+ is rather awesome. I stream nearly every game, I have never watched so much hockey.

Loving ESPN+. Getting it with Disney Hulu and Hulu tv is cheaper than I paid for just at&t tv.

What's really weird is that I don't consider Flyers-Rangers the Flyers or the Rangers real rivalry game.

I'd think the Rangers would have the Islanders, but maybe not, as the Flyers have a solid fiftyish years of hatred by some other fanbases. Plus the Rangers & Isles are rarely good at the same time.

The Flyers are either the Penguins or the Bruins depending on one's age, I feel.

ESPN is going to show what gets ratings as they can, as Doug said hockey is great for ESPN+, as you can see what you want. I think that's the primary reason they got it, plus it's a Wednesday night, and the NHL is at best the #4 sport in the US - fighting with college basketball and football for that spot.

I rather like AHL TV, myself, although I can get some Phantoms games on TV.

I have ESPN+ and it is great but I find myself watching hockey on a stream most nights instead.

the only real games i see on cable tv now are TNT and those are usually the 10pm est games. ESPN+ is awesome though, and it's much cheaper than NHL gamecenter with that disney bundle

i would think they could probably throw more on espn2 or something
