He could coexist with DeAngelo... you do realize that Ethan Bear is indigenous and on the team, and probably has been paired with him.

I am sure that wouldn't stop Kane and/or the Hurricanes. That being said Evander has a very short 5 team list that he can be moved to... and he may need to expand that list if his new agent can land him a shot at continuing his NHL career.. or else he may have to spend the entire season down in the A, and get bought out down the road.

You know what I find interesting about DeAngelo; you haven't heard anything about him this year other than his playing. No other BS coming from him in any way whatsoever. He's just playing hockey, and doing it well.

Is there hope for EKane? Maybe, but the problem with Kane has been evident over multiple teams where as DeAngelo's issues were with one team and he's been good "so far" on his current team.

frankly i dont think what deangelo did/has done is in the same universe as what evander kane has done. deangelo got caught up in his inherent red-ness and forgot he had to be a good teammate. hes been humbled but is recoverable because he is talented. hes also on a prove-it 1 year deal for 1m so if he doesnt just shut up and play hes out of the league for good.

im no lawyer but evander has done some truly awful things and has an additional 3 years left on his deal. thats just a much much bigger headache to deal with.

I think the big difference is DeAngelo got bought out of his cheaper contract. Kane for all of his real or perceived issues still managed to not get bought out and is on a 7mil contract.

DeAngelo being bought out I'm sure was a wake up call and someone probably a lot smarter than him sat him down and was like "if you ever want to play again for the love of God stop talking". He could've just continued running his mouth and every team would've been like "ya no thanks".

DeAngelo was making like 5mill, but because of his age/service time, the buyout penalty is very small. Semantics but ya.

Do you know why Kane hasn't been bought out? He's got 3 years left on his contract after this year. He's over 26 so he would cost the Sharks 2/3 of his salary for six years. DeAngelo only had one year left on his contract with the Rangers and was under 26 years of age so it only cost them 1/3 of the contract for this year to buy him out. Huge differences.

This is why the Sharks are willing to eat half his salary to move him. They only have to deal with him for three more years (whatever they retain) instead of six years on their books.

Right to the both of you Olympic and Axe, that's the point I was trying to make. It's easy for DeAngelo to wise up when he's on the outside looking in. Kane has less motivation because as you both pointed out his contract is harder to buy out.
