Question Trade for Elias Pettersson or steer clear? I'll gladly rep all responses! :)

Is Pettersson the ultimate buy-low target right now? Any fancy stats people out there seeing a regression from this guy? Or is he just looking off and giving no reason for optimism anytime soon?

I'm thinking about offering an also under performing Trochek for him... bit of a low ball but worth a shot?

I got him last night. Sent Norris and Dobson for him. I judged that yesterday was the buy-low threshold I was comfortable with. I felt it was the right moment.
He scored a PP goal tonight which is always welcome as an auspicious debut.
So many problems there though. VAN organization is shaky, and that concerns me greatly. Consistency will likely be an issue all season. If he is a write-off this year I still like the upside going forward.
I have quality depth so I can absorb his bad numbers.

Yes he is a good buy low. He's too skilled to keep this up even though he looks indifferent at times on the ice. A new coach should get him going - I expect that to happen soon.

Do you guys think Trochek is a good starting point to see if the owner is fed up? Too little? Too much?

I dont think Troch is too little to even offer, but I doubt theyll accept. So from your vantage point its probably a good opening offer.

Have you checked in with the OGM or heard him complaining? Intel is always welcome in this game. I have scored more than a few times on impatiency.
What does the guy need? Always begin trade planning by turning the board around and viewing it as your opponent does.

In a keeper league he should definitely be a top target.

I was a Petterson owner and I sold relatively low a few weeks back, but nowhere near what other posters have suggested.

I don't believe in him this year. I think he will be "better", but that's an incredibly low bar. I wouldn't give up too much for him. If you can get him for scraps then absolutely take the chance

    This.

In keeper/dynasty leagues he's a top target. In 1 year leagues not so much.

I have him on two teams, 1 being a keeper and the other being 1 year. There's no way I'm moving him in my keeper league for cents on the dollar right now, but in my 1 year league he's hanging onto a roster spot by a thread.
