When comparing D and F it's very hard to make a judgment without full roster and scoring settings.

Marner is a borderline buy-low right now, so Carlson might be a lot to give up

Yeah need a bit more format info (e.g. how many D start, is it F or C/RW/LW setting, etc.) to offer any legit feedback on this.

But based on what you've shared - if you have the depth on D to make the deal, I think that's a very acceptable price for Marner in a one-year.
