So I want to go after Makar. Is an offer like Marner, Buchnevich and Bratt or similar player a big overpay? I offered Marner for Makar straight up but owner didn’t budge lol

When it comes to Makar, there’s not too many deals that would be an overpay. You’re looking at trying to acquire a 23 year old, who hasn’t hit his prime yet, who scores like an elite forward (from a shallow position that doesn’t have many player who can put up points at that pace), on one of the best teams in the NHL.
I agree with Axeman, you should first understand if the GM is willing to entertain offers. If yes, then expect you’d need to pay an extremely high price.

I remember not long ago someone on here entertained the idea of dealing Makar because he might be a band aid boy. The argument not to deal him was that he will always make up for lost time, this is very true. He’s on fire scoring goals like a top line winger and the Avs haven’t even started yet. Makar is a stud, dealing him has to make sense. The owner has to be blown away to get him to the table. Good luck.
Call me old one more time.

As a Makar owner in a keep 8 I would not accept. You need to look his keepers and improve on 2 keepers as he is loosing 1. Volume offers in a limited keeper are normally not great, but if the other owner does his home work and clearly identies and solutions a weakness I consider. As others have said Makar is 23 so I would look for a young keeper + upgrade on another of my keepers to even consider.

Beware.... Makar is only 23 but is already regressing... 2 games ago he was in on 100% of COL goals. Last game he was only in on 50% of COL goals.
50% regression already.

when you talking about guy like Makar you will most likely insult other GM by offering guys like Bratt and Buchnevich...you need to over another star type guy with Marner and then maybe...i would not accept this offer and i own both him and Marner and love both.

Along with understanding the GM and his/her needs (which is SUPER important) - if you're trying to land a superstar in a limited keeper then so much is based on timing too.
There's almost ZERO point in chasing a guy like Makar when he's hot. Hell most GM's struggle to trade away a waiver/FA-claim guy when he's hot. You HAVE to wait for a window (and with Makar there just might not be a good one) where he's either not producing or injured.
Let the OGM know you're "hot to trot" on him and will overpay... and then wait it out until/if a more prime situation emerges to overpay. (And make no mistake, you'll almost certainly have to overpay meaning 2 "marners" +... not likely to get done for 1 marner-level, 1 decent-level (buch) and 1 replacement level (Bratt).
Good luck.

Marner + a D man is most likely your best potential offer to get a deal done, not some throw ins like Buchnevich & Bratt. Chances are he'll want someone to "replace" Makar on the back end, so Marner + Barrie MIGHT get him to pull the trigger. I'd be asking for more as a Makar owner personally though.

Might be enough to get him to give you a counter. At which point you'll have an idea of what his asking price actually is. If it's another reject without a counter, I'd suggest reaching out to him to see if he's even willing to move him. You might just be wasting your time.
If I own Makar, I'm not dealing him unless I got Marner and someone like Q. Hughes, and even then it would largely depend on who Marner would be replacing on my roster. Is Marner going to be enough of an upgrade over the forward I'd be dropping/replacing, compared to the difference between Makar and Hughes?
Players like Makar, arguably the most valuable player in his position, are not often traded unless someone is really deep at that position and has a glaring need at another position (or if the person is a newbie and doesn't appreciate Makar's value).

As a Makar owner, I would balk at that offer. Maybe a starting point, but I’d want more. I share that because if you feel that’s too steep of a price to pay, you and the Makar owner are on different pages. You’ll very likely annoy him with what he perceives as low ball offers, while driving yourself nuts.
