Maybe I have a Newhook bias?
I prefer Perfetti
Hi everyone,
keeper league, points only who do you prefer in 2-3 years? I'm not competing right know, so I can wait.
I know that both are elite prospect. This is why I'm asking the Dobber community.
So if you can have only one, who would it be?
Thanks

This is a very close call - I’d say Newhook only because he’s likely to be a higher G/SOG guy, whereas Perfetti more like a pass-first Backstrom type. Can’t go wrong with either in a keeper!

here's a snippet from lastwordonsports scouting report on Perfetti:
Perfetti is a sniper. He has an outstanding wrist shot, featuring power, accuracy, and a very quick release. He also has a strong snapshot and an excellent one-timer. Perfetti can even score on the back hand. His quick hands also allow him to score in close to the net, where he can make a quick move on a goaltender, bury a rebound or a pass from a teammate, or deflect a shot.

Flip a coin and it lands on Perfetti. A little disappointed that Newhook didn’t catch on with the big club this year. Oh well preaching patience I guess.

As others said really close... but if I had to choose it'd be Perfetti.

My preference is Newhook. I see him as a replacement for Kadri on that 2C spot long term.

I like Perfetti. More of a gut feeling that anything else.
I like Cole Perfetti here. Always a slow starter. Even during his last OHL season. 11 points in 10 games, and then followed that with 100 points in 50 games. In his first 10 Moose games as a professional, he started out with 4 points, then finished the rest of the year off with 22 points in 22 games, which was highlighted with a stretch of 7 April games where he produced 13 points and won AHL Rookie of the Month. He has 6 points in 10 games, but he has been getting lots of looks and has been averaging nearly 3 SOG. Then remember he's still a 19-year-old we're talking about who's only half a season into his pro career. Kid will get it.
Go with Cole! And with guys like Blake Wheeler and Paul Stastny on the back nine of their careers, it opens room up for a newcomer to take over, where as Colorado's top-nine is very young.

Cole Perfetti is catching fire in the AHL. He's still my choice.
In terms of AHL production, Alex Newhook is a year older and has 19 points in 18 total games. The year younger Perfetti has 27 points in his last 24 games going back to last season when he was April's Rookie of the Month.
I think going with Alex here could be a mistake as I see Perfetti's upside being tremendous.
