Question Debrincat or Ehlers? - will gladly rep any responses :)

I'm an Ehlers owner and I was offered Debrincat. Thoughts? Team #2 in signature. Note that being a minus player has a negative impact on my weekly score in H2H. Who do you prefer?

    Thanks for the input!

Cat is 23 and Ehlers 25. Cat has broken the 40 goal threshold and Ehlers is on the brink of passing 30 soon. I think both guys will consistently hit 30 goals moving forward. Cat has been lucky to play with an explosive player in Kane. Kane isn't getting any younger but he's still viable in fantasy. Ehlers plays with a way better cast around him and I think Winnipeg will make the playoffs. Both guys need their teams to do well in order for them to do well. I don't see Chicago (even tho Kane is back) making the playoffs and they will lose most nights. With +/- being pretty valuable I'd go with Ehlers here. Career stats on that bodes well for Nik plus he always out PIMs the Cat too. Good luck.

When all is said and done Ehlers will be more fantasy valuable, and I’d argue he’s even with DeB right now. He put up PPG pace getting only PP2 time, when that changes (writing on the wall with “fast becoming obsolete in today’s NHL” Wheeler). Plus he will help you now big time plus minus compared to Debrincat. By 2023 Ehlers will be a 35G/85pt/30PPP guy every year.

I think this is a one year league right?

This year it's Debrincat for me until (if?) Ehlers gets on the PP. Except for the 19-20 season there's consistently been a 10-15 point difference between the two of them and that basically amounts to Debrincat getting top PP deployment.

We can revisit this next year or whenever it is Maurice realizes Ehlers is one of their best forwards but until then Debrincat is going to outpace him.

I agree, if it's a one-year league I'm going with DeBrincat. Keeper league, I'd start to learn towards Ehlers.

    Ehlers for me.

The plus\minus hit tips the balance in favor to Ehlers, Debrincat on a declining Chicago team could be a minus player this year. Also Ehlers has the higher upside that he can hit any season now, so why not this year?

Because he's not getting the PP deployment. That higher upside isn't magically just going to materialize, without that deployment he can't reach his potential.

But in a weekly H2H I'm not worrying about plus/minus, in a given week the results can vary so wildly. Sure over a season Debrincat could end up with a lower rate on the season but that is the tradeoff of getting more of your points on the PP vs. ES.

Ehlers is on PP2 and I'll still take that over this year's version of the Hawk's PP and what Debrincat can achieve on it.
