Ovechkin for Chabot and Couturier

I am in a 10 team keep 8 league. I was offered Thomas Chabot and Sean Couturier for my Ovechkin.

I am currently in the middle of the pack and still have my sights set on a run for the championship this year. We roster 6 D a night and D men get bonus points for scoring in this league so Chabot would be definitely be a very strong add and a keeper going forward. My D are pretty weak so another solid D would be a great addition.

Couturier as a Center would likely not be a keeper but he would be a great addition to my team this year. I could eject Monahan pretty easily.

I know Ovi is killing it, but at what point should a person sell high on his output? I worry about his age and wonder how many more years Ovi can be a keeper in a keep 8 league with 10 teams.

Should I hold Ovi? Try and get a little more?

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Deals with aging vets are always tricky to pull off and in all honesty you never get the true value for the player. Its nearly impossible to move players over 30 in my league. That said, I think this is a great time to move Ovi. Before I accepted any deals I think I would shop him a round a bit and see what other teams have to offer.

I think that is an ok offer, but Colt.45 says, I might want to see if you can't eke a little more out of Ovi, especially with his insanely hot start. If you really need a D and a C I don't think you would be losing too badly, but I think you should do some more shopping.

You are giving up the best player in the deal, but for how many more years? At some point he has to decline. Doesn't he?

For a 10 team keep 8 league your keepers are pretty weak and your draft strategy might need some work. I'm guessing D that score are hoarded as they carry a bonus...so why are your Fs so not stellar? I would counter with Chabot and a better F from this GM as I know he has one or two. Yes Ovie is ageing, but as stated he's off to a blistering start and still a top tier fantasy asset. You need to get more for him than this.

In a league with 80 keepers total, Chabot & Couts is a pretty marginal return for OV. I'd push for a better add, like a 1st or something, and shop him around to some of the contenders.
