Default How long before Quenneville goes???

He's tone deaf as well as having no shame.

As a fan, player, former coach and father, I'm outraged, disgusted, and left hollow. Where is the sense of honor, of doing the right thing, of caring for your team and your responsibility to youngsters. A complete lack of leadership by ALL involved. For me, it's just incredible that Joel Quenneville (and Kevin Cheveldayoff) continue to have jobs in the NHL. Read page 47 of the 107 page report filed by by Jenner & Block, the law firm commissioned by the Hawks, and you'll share my disgust that Quenneville was standing behind the bench during last night's Panthers game.

Great read by David Haugh if you haven't seen it: https://www.audacy.com/670thescore/s...ssault-scandal

    Full report: https://jenner.com/system/assets/ass...ber%202021.pdf

Even more disturbing is their role in the chain of events that contributed to further abuse by not stepping up and doing the right thing. Do they realize/care about the lives they help ruin?

I have little faith the NHL will get these moves right. And unless Florida is disgusted with Quenneville over this, I don't think he's fired.

JQ will continue to deny it by saying he doesn't remember any info on it, so unless Florida decides he broke trust with the organization, he likely won't go anywhere. Even tho I wish he's pretty much thrown out of the league. How perfect would it be if Lehner was on a team coached by JQ tho, or if he was on Florida (or JQ coached Vegas). Lehner wouldn't hold back what he really thinks.

Unfortunately nothing will probably get done. JQ and others will say they forgot or can't recall anything. They should try and get any info they can from Bowman now that he's gone but he is part of the Old boys club. Even though we are in 2021, this will continue to happen and there will always be the almighty powers that be (Goodell, Bettman..etc) to make sure nothing gets improved. You think Bettman ultimately cares if this went on under his reign? Nope, he doesn't have much time left as Comish and he will make as much money for him and his cronies as he can. Goes for all sports really.

His team is winning, he will be fine.

1 - Expectations of today should not be cast upon the past. And we should not want them to.

2 - For your own good, do not expect anyone to have your back. It's a cutthroat world out there no matter how much you wish it not to be.

3 - You will not fix the world from behind your keyboards.

I think you guys are dreaming. Quenneville is done. This is 2021, not 2010, Bettman and the NHL would be crazy not to impose harsh punishment, and even if they didn’t JQ will not want to deal with the fallout by continuing as Panthers coach. He’ll resign.

The tide has turned. The public is no longer going to tolerate the old boys approach. The NHL knows they need young fans, and those fans will stay away forever if this kind of thing is improperly handled.

NOTE: It’s not just what Q did during the run, to insist on delaying any investigation or fallout until after the Cup was won. He let this guy participate fully in the celebration festivities and then, I believe, gave him a recommendation - and then the piece of shit leveraged that to get other work and eventually abused a 16yo hockey player in Michigan.

    Q is done.

Bettman will work behind the scenes to get him out of there, one way or another. Quenneville's on record as having lied about it and there's no real way to interpret his continued coaching other than a rejection of the pain Beach went through. Bettman is savvy enough to know that this has to happen. So it is just a matter of time, I'd guess. The "I reported it to my boss and that was all I had to" argument advanced by Joe Paterno never washed the moral blame away. It won't for Quenneville either.

my best guess would be later today, the NHL will give JQ the opportunity to walk away himself.

i would expect the same for KC up in winnipeg also but nothing has been done yet considering the meeting was yesterday...

100% agree. I don't get why you need such a long time to talk to Cheveldayoff. But, if they get the decisions right, I guess the time is well spent. If they get the decisions wrong...it'll be even weirder.

Florida plays in Detroit tmo, and in Boston Saturday. That MIGHT be the reason why they made the meeting today for Quenneville. The NHL doesn't really make decisions without a lot of thought (Example, COVID night in March 2020, NBA cancelled games in the middle of the games. NHL took the night to make the decision). Could be why they kind of wrote off yesterday.

I hope JQ stays period. He doesn't need to get the Bill Peters treatment period.

Enough is enough with this bs these days. Should you be crucified because you said or did something horrific 10/15/20 years ago?

Society is becoming more ridiculous by the day.
