Here's a question for you. Mantha is scoring at a 45 point pace right now. Dec 22 is the earliest estimated return of Kucherov. That's 23 games for Mantha, he might score 12 points at his pace.
I know for a fact a couple owners are drooling over Kuch on waivers. I'm in a dog fight, in second place, but first place team is absolutely stacked, and third is quite stacked as well.
The owner of McDavid had a bad draft but made some drops and is climbing...
If you look at my roster, I only have one elite forward - Kane. If I drop Mantha for Kuch now, and keep him away from the other owners, I sacrifice 12 points? Am I off in my assessment that it's worth it to steal Kuch?
Keeping in mind, I cant stash him, there is no IR/bench

I drop Mantha for Kuch 100% As you mentioned you lose 12 points up to December, but down the stretch Kuch easily makes up the difference.

No I think it will be fine. When Kuch comes back he will put up as many points in his several months as Mantha would over the season.

I think you made the right call. Mantha's value is heavily weighed on the presence of Oshie and Backstrom. Without them he and the caps look anemic.
