Default Trade: Carlson and Puljujarvi - For: Makar

An owner in my league drafted both Marner and Makar and is looking for a shake up. This is the latest offer on the table. Two defensemen struggling out of the gate swapping and he wants a sweetener. His ask is JP, who is currently playing with McDavid on the top line, but was taken off both PP units. Points system is G, A, PP points, Shots, and Hits.

I offered him Toffoli early on as the sweetener and he countered with JP. I do have both Rust and Robertson on IR and will need to make room for them potentially. Not sure what to do here.

To me in a non-keeper league they're (Makar & Carlson) 6 one way, half dozen the other with the edge going to Carlson.
You know you'll be getting nearly a PPG with Carlson eventually, & while Makar should be nearing that sooner than later,
    he's not at the moment.
I think all you're doing is bettering his roster by giving him JP & freeing up a spot for inbound Rust/Robertson at some point.
Best to choose who you want to drop, rather than automatically making it JP...unless he is your most "droppable" player.

This makes sense. In the same league last year, Makar was slightly ahead of Carlson points-wise on average, but it was close. Hopefully my signature shows up now so you have a better idea of my roster, but my most droppable player right now is Tolvanen. I have Hintz and Toffoli who are underperforming, but I may want to hang onto. Robertson should be back Monday and my drop will be Tolv.

Yeah, in a one-year you stand pat. JP should get PP time, although when Yamamoto was on fire two seasons ago he didn't, so it's possible it won't happen. Even still though, Yamamoto was nearly a point per game player despite his lack of PP time, and JP could do the same this season.

i agree with others..in one year im not doing this trade..but i fully expect Makar to be ahead by minimum 10 pints at years end...

Given all the variables I would take a pass on this one. I don't see a whole lot of upside. At best you gain a very little, at worst you lose a considerable amount.

Depends what your roster is actually. You have a couple of guys and need to drop someone eventually, so I would say it just depends on your roster make up.
